Awesome vid!

Looks like Gran Turismo 5!

I can't tell you how many laps I've made around that track over the years in that series of video games. My favorite track, by far!

Looks like he hit 179 mph, but wasn't all the way in it on the long straight.

I don't know that nurburgring is the best test, the track is so long and a driver is never going to hit every turn right, and the size of their cajones seem to be a big factor. But I guess it simulates street driving pretty well.

The Ring is the most challenging track in the world. It is long, changes elevation, soooo many turns... about 80, IIRC...

It requires a driver that no only has balls of iron, but KNOWS the track. You could put a great driver on that track, but if they don't know it, it will take them days to get up to speed.

I would say that the ZR1 did that record not because of great handling dynamics but because of brute power. Mr. Mero deserves that record, he worked his ass off to get it!!! There were several times where his car control saved the day.
