Make sure the cargo shade isn't rubbing against the trim. You can always apply some self-adhesive velcro fabric (the soft part) to the backside of the hatch trim in places where it might rub. Also make sure you have all the little rubber bumpers in good shape.

If it's the plastic squeaking, you may be able to glue something on between where the pieces overlap to isolate them. Something like the soft side of a velcro strip or similar would be good. Also, a dab of silicone on interior screws will help keep them from loosening up, as these and certain others are prone to do.

The plastic can squeak against each other. Also make sure all the rubber bumpers are in place where the glass closes.

Mine squeaks like crazy. I bought new pieces and finally received them 3 months later, haven't put them on yet.

If its the OEM 84 rear deck it has less screws than redesigned unit to eliminate that squeak. Newer one has 2 holes in center and 2 holes along edge parallel to glass.
