I want to put new seatcovers and foam on the 67s buckets. Have the stuff but ran outta moula to have the local upholstery guy do it.
Where can I get hog rings and the pliers, any tips? Is there a certain type to get? I keep starting threads at another place and 90% of them go unanswered, getting real frustrated.Beginnning to think that everyone writes checks to fix their cars. How hard is this to do? |

I've never done it but I've seen a little done. Did you look at any fabric stores by you (like Joanne Fabrics, etc?). If not, fleabay is the place for everything:

I re-did mine 6 years ago.
Not that bad of a project. Took me about 4 hours to do the first seat, 2 hours for the second. I bought a kit from corvetteamerica.com that contained hog rings, and metal straps (long wires) that loop into the covers at the verticle creases and wrap around the frame to give the tuck look. The kit was around $30.00 (may be more now), the pliers I bought at my local Ace hardware store for <$20.00. Now if you were closer, I'd help you out, but....... (not the proper year, but you get the idea) http://www.corvetteamerica.com/cf/dis ... arnmoreid=4563&idlist=882,5113,4563&searchdest=%2Fcf%2Flearnmorelist%2Ecfm%3Fsubcategoryid%3DX400&subcategoryid=X400 |

I've done two Camaros in the past and I purchased pliers and hog rings from Classic Industries when I bought the first set of seat covers. The second time around I found a local upholstery shop that sold me a ton of hog rings for cheap.
You might let your fingers do the walking and check the yellow pages in your area for upholsterers. You'll probably find rings and plyer there. Oh also, don't try this wihout the correct hog ring plyers because it just don't work right. |
