Me and the roomie got back from boozin' one night while in college. His bike had recently been stolen, and he 'found' a replacement. I had it wired with fishin' line through the window to inside on some empty beer cans.

I passed out toasted on my rack. At 3:14, he comes in my room and rattles me; "Chuck - someone's stealin the bike!" I grabbed a hunting rifle and staggered outside, and told him to hold on with the bike. I didn't actually draw a bead, but it wasn't far off his feet. He laid it down slow, and said he was just borrowin' it. I did start to raise it, watchin' his hands.

My roomie called the law. 4 cops showed up - 3 cars. 2 of 'em I knew (knew lotsa' local PD). One of 'em told me I had to be careful about doin' that. Then they asked if I wanted to press charges. HUH??? I looked at my roomie, and he just said 'Nah'.

It was huntin' season, and it was a loaded 30:30. My other one is a 30.06. Mighta' made a mess.

How 'bout ya'?

Yeah, but it was on the Nicaragua/Honduras border somewhere in 1984, so I don't know if that counts or not for this discussion.

I was on the open end of a shotgun. Went to collect a late debt. The guy wasn't quite ready to pay. He did eventually pay but I didn't bother him as much about it after that.
Another time I had a tile knife held at my throat. The guy had ripped me off and I went to make my point. His point was a little stronger and sharper. I never did recoup my losses on that one but at least my head is still connected to my body. No similar incidents in over 20 years. I guess you learn a little something as you get older. Stay out of the line of fire.
