I know some of you guys have come up with different methods of bolting down the plenum to the runners. I already know about the idea of slotting the screw points to draw them up
before tightening. But I'm wondering if any of you have come up with a "new and improved" method.

Also, if I end up tightening the screws from under the plenum, is it better to have 12pt. screws, or others? I'm open to suggestions, thanks guys.

I'm not familiar with the problem you are having. Can you go into more detail? I'd like to try and add a fresh perspective to this and maybe help with a solution if you can be more specific about the issues and maybe pics to help me visualize it.

on my SR the previous owner tapped the runner flange of the inside bolts and supplied bolts to thread down into them from the top, sealed with nylon washers and safety wired "just in case"

looks like it'll work fine to me.

safety wire?

damn... I would use some threadlock and a little RTV on the holes...

The bottom line? this has no more or less leak points than a stock TPI... it just has a bad lid.

Well, as I write this, it's now 3:30am. I've spent several days getting a billet lid made and tonight I finally got the holes transferred into it. I think the one thing that sets the SR apart from the stock TPI is the amount of core shift in the plenum casting along with the "hurry up and get it done" machining. Also, I think the use of 1/4-28 bolts is a bit light for mounting the plenum to the runners, but even that could have been made up for with better placement of some of the screws. The idea behind this intake is still a good one, I think it could have been made with better quality and workmanship.

1/4-28? Are they smoking crack? That's lame, dude.

Is there room to open them up to 5/16-24? That little extra might help.

I've been considering just that very thing. Up 'til now I've been focusing on the lid, but now that it's done, I'm gonna start giving more attention to the plenum.
