I have a 1992 LT-1, supercharged, forged 383. It redlines at 6400; so I am just about to pull the trigger on a good, used LT4 Cluster (to get the 8k RPM tach display).
However, Understanding that there will be a mismatch between cluster color (white on black) and all other buttons / switches, I have three options. 1. Do nothing, live with the mismatch (hey, I already have white-on-black pod gauges, so maybe no big deal) 2. Convert the cluster to orange-on-black 3. Convert all the other buttons to white-on-black I'd appreciate the collective wisdom on here, opinions welcome. It obviously would not be an urgent issue, but I would like to have the end-plan worked out before I install the new cluster. Cheers |

Yea, 92-93 are orange which I prefer, I guess since I've got a 92.
The cluster with the tach doesn't have any buttons, so why not just swap it and leave all the buttons stock? That's assuming that the wiring to the cluster matches or can be rewired. The buttons are just switches that go to relays or the CCM. I would think that swapping button colors would be a real bitch. And to match things you'd have to do headlites, power windows, radio, wow. |

How do you convert the cluster to orange on black?
Or are you saying just swap some of the parts out with your current cluster, except the tach? How hard is it to find an early ZR1 cluster or tach? |

Hmmm - good questions. I figured that there may be a way to paint / use decals to convert the cluster, but that may be a tall order. I saw someone on CF who converted all buttons etc and it looks like a real PITA. I plan to use the whole cluster (there is a write-up on the net, it's a plug and play swap). I hadnt thought about a ZR1 cluster, I dont know if its a direct fit. |

92-96 LT1 and LT4 as well as 1992-1995 LT5 Clusters with interchange
1990-1991 L98 and LT5 will interchange 1990-1991 will NOT interchange with 1992-1996 at all without some work and using one of them as a donor for the other |
