Talk about coincidence! I had to cough up $185 to get my sons pc fixed today. Last fall the hard drive died, this time they say the ram croaked.
Otherwise not a bad day. Cashed in on a favor owed and took today off. Had an extended lunch with the homies and found out about all kinds of stuff that went on in the college days. I didn’t know about these “habits” of the young women then because I was always at work. Probably for the best.
Gris, it seems we agree about impeachment 2.0. Probably about 1.0 as well.
Have a great one Gurus!

Here in the Buckeye we don’t have weather as bad as some of you, but it still stinks. I might actually take a two day weekend this week!
I don’t know where the doctors find their appointment takers.
You can call and say you just did anything from stubbed toes to gunshot wounds and they’ll ask if you can make it on Thursday two weeks from now.

So I’ve got this build underway, and I’m almost ready to set up my system.
Back when I bought it, it was a pretty good unit.
I bought it then so it wouldn’t magically turn into new carpeting, drapes or the like.
I have a FAST EZ-EFI retrofit multi point system.
I’m reading some of the FB groups stuff, and it’s helpful, but it seems like these guys are always fighting with something on their FAST units. I’m thinking there’s probably a much more readily tunable unit out there, from Edelbrock, Holley, etc. what I’m hoping for is the best out of box, runs great experience.
Does anyone know people that have tried different brand units?
As always, help is appreciated!

I like the YaxTrax ice creepers. In January 05, I fell on ice and busted the right leg. After that, always had some around.

In a bit I’m going to post in Tech. If anyone is interested, take a look.

Thank for complement Tee! Mucho appreciado! Just doing what’s right.
We’ve got chilly sunshine here in the SW Buckeye. I guess we’ll get what’s either in the west or northern Midwest in a couple days. 6 mor days to the weekend Gurus! I’m off to the work 20.

The lack of vacation time never really bugged me until a couple years ago.
One of the biggest reasons we didn’t travel was family needs. For a long time wife and kids food allergies weren’t figured out. Between that and kids dragging home school illnesses, a very high amount of work absence was to hold the fort as the healthy person in charge. I’m familiar with the swim meet gypsies. One of my best homies did that for years, for three girls. It started with gymnastics then morphed into swim teams. Michigan, Florida, And everywhere in between. It seemed as if he only had about 2-3 weeks off a year between seasons.
But, onward and upward Gurus!

I guess I’m just way behind in life. We haven’t taken an actual, week-long vacation since 2002. And that was the trip to Disney in Florida we took for the kids with moms life insurance cash.
The results of being the lone breadwinner for over 20 years.
There were a few long weekends, but that was the only full family vacation we’ve ever taken.
Maybe next year?

Seems like things are going well today. Looking at the weather and the national map, Tee, I’m not sure you’re still in Kansas anymore . 😁
Those temps are very enviable.

Gris, stay warm there buddy. Stay inside and pour up a little “liquid heat” if need be.
We’ve gotten a bit more than yesterday, but the cold temperatures are keeping it white.
Tommy, you’re doing better than the people that bought GameStop on Friday. They’re taking a bath today as the hedge funds are kicking back with the help of brokers.
On the automotive front, I may have finally figured out the last details of the fuel system and where to mount the regulator. I’ve been very close to selling the FIRST intake and going to a central port system. There’s just so little room for this component.
Sometimes it just makes my head hurt!
Enough of my whining, you guys have a great day.

Hiya all,
Just vegging with the Missuz tonight. Here in my section of Ohio, we get a fairly manageable amount of snow each year. It’s odd though that the weather line is where I70 runs east/west north of town. Even the weather babes give different reports for The Dayton area and The area north of I 70.

It was nice to have a day off. I get lots of small cuts and slices in my fingers and hands thru the week, and just one day really helps with the healing process.
Have a great week everyone!

Hi Gus, just checking in.
Tommy, at first I was pretty envious of your weather, but then I thought about the storms you also get. I’d say you’ve earned the pleasant weather today.
Letty, I’m the same way about not watching the news sometimes. We all need a break from the junk once in a while.
Have a great day Gurus!

I’m certainly happy you guys are ok, but how many times did you hit that deer? Again, glad you’re all ok!
Cold and rainy here in the Buckeye. I actually got 8+ hours last night and boy do I feel better. Sleeping in the cold house after working in a cold factory was getting very old, very quickly.
Stay safe you guys!

Geez! The cost of dental work is crazy! I’ve got about $1500 in my implant, and I thought I was getting robbed!
I will say it’s cool to watch them being made. Mine was made right in front of me.

Otherwise, news from the Palatial double-wide was more plumbing this past weekend. I think we all feel about the same about it.
Had to re-seal the master throne to the floor. Can you feel the excitement?!
Next up was the place not heating properly. We have a boiler system, and it was running, but no heat.
It only cost about half an implant to get it fixed.
The adventure continues Gurus!

Hi all, just checking in.
I’ve been working on the Vette as I can. Currently, I’m finishing out the fuel system. Doesn’t seem too hard, until you try to put the pressure regulator somewhere close to the rail. There’s just no space where I want it, and the closest source for fittings is 40 minutes away. And they don’t always have what I want/need.
I’ll “figger” it out, just takes time. Oh, and money, too.
Have a good weekend!

Hi guys.
Been busy with junk as usual. Daughter is thinking of a new ride and we’re getting a good deal of quality time looking. The current preference is a Subaru Forrester. Lots of money!

My ‘89 has been converted to C5 front brakes and this week I found a set of calipers with the “Corvette” logo on the fronts. But to get them I had to buy the rears too.
Now I need to sell the rear calipers. If anyone is interested, shoot me a message.
Work was canceled yesterday for a water main break, so I actually got two days off this weekend. Maybe I’ll actually get some sleep tonight.

Hi guys. I’m still working 7+ days/week. The “white people” in the office are supposed to be doing a wage review to see if it needs to come up in order to get more guys in here. We keep hiring toolmakers for 3rd shift and they quit when their training is over so they don’t go to 3rd.

I keep seeing on tv the democrats want to purge anyone conservative. If they do, who’s going to pay their welfare?

T, happy Birthday to you. That’s a good looking Caddy.
Tommy, I’m glad you’ve been successful at the casino. I don’t have the luck you do. If I went to that casino, you’d be the one to take my money home!🤪
Congratulations on the Great grandson Gris! He’s in a good family.
And the cartoon is accurate as well!

If I’ve left anyone out, it’s by accident, and I’m happy to be back on the guru as well.

Merry Christmas Friends!
Pretty much ready for it here. The only thing I have left to do is start my shopping! It’s a short list, something for the missuz.
Marc, the way it was explained to me is there are arms chambered for .223 and those for 5.56mm. The 5.56 is the physically and only slightly larger of the two, so it will take the .223. But chamber’s for the .223 will not accept the 5.56mm. I hope I don’t have that backwards. And please, Correct me if I’m wrong.
Have a great Christmas Eve everyone!

Well howdy folks!
I’ve been released from exile! I was having trouble getting results of my test and call the EHS/safety gal at work. She sent me to a distant county where I could get a quick test. Sure enough, I got my results as I was cruising home.
I’m a NEGATIVE guy! So I took the copy of my printout with me, and enjoyed another action packed evening of die repair. So now I’m eligible for holiday pay.

I see you’ve all been busy since my last drop in.
Tommy, I don’t know how you can do it. If I hit that payout I’d probably quit while ahead. Usually I feel pretty lucky if I just get the money back on a bet like Letty did.

T, I tried to pay a guy well once. We have radiant heat thru the floor here, a once had a blackout during a bad winter storm. A friend set me up with his electrician buddy who came on a Sunday, in a storm, to help. He wired in an outlet on the boiler so I could run it off the generator, saving my foundation from cracking and breaking up the water lines within. I handed him a check for $125 and he refused it as too much. I told him he’d saved my butt and my foundation along with the expense of going to a furnace after all the damage. He still refused so I asked him to name his price. Finally I was able to give him $75. But make no mistake, he saved my azz.

And Marc, I agree about the legalized casinos. I don’t care much for them either. Ohio has them now, but one of the early attempts to get them voted in was for one guy to have the state’s license, and it was worded in the whole thing that if an Indian casino ever came in, he’d no longer owe state taxes. So by that, you know he’s going to do a back door bankroll of an Indian casino probably before his own gets built.

I could go on, but this is already waayy too long, so I’ll just say,
Have a great one my friends!

Hi everyone.
Safe travels Letty, have a good time! Try to keep your teeth out of the dash. It’s hard to floss out. Long story of how I know.
Mat, and everyone, get and stay healthy.
So, I’m on day 6 of my exile. Still feel fine. No loss of taste or smell. No temps, coughing or other typical issues. I’m hoping to get my negative results PDQ as I don’t want to miss out on holiday pay.
I’m not sure, I may have only one more working Christmas holiday after this before I, “graduate,” and become a trophy husband.
Stay with it everyone!

Sorry for the loss of your friend John. I agree, that’s a crummy way to find out. When my dad passed, I was responsible for collecting the mail. When the Christmas cards came in, I found myself calling folks to let them know. While uplifting to know the old man had such long lasting friendships and ties to relatives, it hurt to have to let them know.
Think of the great times with happiness.

Stay strong Letty! 💪🏻 By your description I think at this point it’s become a war of attrition. By your account, I think a rational court will take your side.

Day four of exile. Left the palatial double-wide and got tested. I’ve often referred to the saying, “better than a sharp stick in the eye!” But since this was a plastic stick up my nose, I’m at a loss for further illustrations. It wasn’t too awful though. Akin to taking a humorous spill in the yard, I started laughing during the probe. Wife started commenting that, “It’s NOT a joke!” But I began laughing harder afterward. It took a couple minutes for me to explain my reaction. Otherwise I feel ok, occasional cough, sometimes I get that feeling of fatigue I get when I’m catching a cold, but it doesn’t last too long.
Stay with it Gurus, and have a great day!

Day three of exile and all is well. Tomorrow is test day, not sure what to study.
Mike, congratulations on the new place. I hope you enjoy it a lot.
Tommy, I feel for you. I haven’t had that but my wife and kids all have terrible food allergies. At first it was thought to be diverticulitis, but too many other things kept happening. The only good thing that’s ever come of it is that I never have to share my pizza!
Letty, I’m sorry you’re still having such a problem with a deadbeat. No matter what legal Avenue is pursued, prepare, prepare, prepare. It’s good you’re already on top of it with receipts and paperwork. Get some photos too for demonstration purposes. Good luck!
Have a great day Gurus!

Hi yourselves everyone!
2nd day of exile. Still doing well. Got so energetic I sat and watched tv all day. Oh, and I exchanged some snarky comments with friends on Fakebook. Gotta stay sharp y’know!
As far as $6 gas goes, I don’t see how it can last. At least not too awfully far into the election cycle. But, I’m often quite wrong.
I turned on the furnace in the garage a bit ago so in a bit I’ll go out and button up a few loose ends I’ve got going on. So you guys have a good evening!

Hi guys.
Day one of exile. Slept in, but only about an extra half hour. Got a headache but that’s a rare symptom according to a list I saw.
You guys (and gal) have a great day! I’ll stay in touch

I guess the wondering is over. My friend whose wife tested positive has now been verified as positive as well. Under the circumstances, I’m obligated to tell my employer. I told the nurse on duty and after some questions, was sent home until I get tested and get a clean Bill of health.
Various requirements say I can’t get tested until Friday this week. So I’m home.
No symptoms yet that I can tell.
I’ll keep you posted.

Hi guys!
Just thought I’d start a new thread instead of prolonging yesterday’s.
Tee, to answer the question of getting tested, I don’t want to be sick with no symptoms (if that’s the case) and have the daughter come home for Christmas and possibly catch it from me. She’s got health concerns, as does my son. I don’t want her to get sick because of me.

Like the rest of you guys, I’m interested in increasing my home security. I’m hoping to get a pump action 12ga for the house, and maybe a hand-held as well. I have to admit, the idea of firing on another human being, even in a dire circumstance, is a frightening scenario that makes me more horrified the more I think of it. But like one of you said, better to have and never need than need and not have.

You guys all have a great week!

G’morning all!
Woke up this morning to learn I may have been exposed to covid.
I had lunch yesterday with a couple of my homies, and the guy I sat across from, his wife got word today she’s tested positive. I guess I’ll get checked in a few days.
The adventure continues...

I know Sportsman's Guide does ammo thru delivery. You may need to arrange to pickup at an FFL dealer. But I’m like you, don’t know much about getting it thru the mail.

Well U-man, you and anyone else who cares to, try this link. Here in the Buckeye we have stores called “Rural King.” You can sign up for their emails from their “hobby” section or the whole store. You can inquire if they ship these supplies to your state.

Letty,
I’m at work when the Christmas star is supposed to appear but I’m gonna try to go outside to see it if I can.

This year I got an M&P AR type because I thought it’d be fun to go shooting with friends. Bu if Biden gets the big house that may not happen. I’ve had it for several months and still haven’t tried it out.
See ya tomorrow everyone...

Really!? That’s some news! For me it’s 66+two months. I thought it meant two months AFTER my birth month.

Thanks Tee! I’m not too far behind you, March b’day with June start. Like you I want to start with no age restrictions. Thanks again!

Just checking in, we’re currently suffering with sunshine, a near cloudless sky, and temperatures in the 40’s. And headed to near 50. But fear not, this too shall pass as the lower temps will return tomorrow along with some rain just in time for the weekend.
Since I’m a workin’ stiff, the better half takes care of the gift shopping. I get to go to work and pay up.
Tee, it seems like you’re on the upswing. That’s good news! I’m looking at applying for SSI as well. How far in advance do you apply for it?

That’s all I got, have a great one everybody!

Well Marc and Tom, you guys, as well as everyone here, take care of yourselves!
There’s been some Facebook talk of the schools merely glossing over Pearl Harbor, if it’s mentioned at all. There are too many aspects of that day, military and otherwise, to ignore it. I’m pretty sure it would be a mistake, so I guess that’s just what many of the schools will do. But I hope not.
As for me, I’ve decided to discuss WW2 with the young’uns.
Get well, feel good, and have a great week everyone!

Well, I can’t let this go without raising a glass! I’ll be having one for Gris when I get home tonight!
And maybe one for Marcus’ good health!
And since I’ll have the jug out...

Hiya Mat!
And good day to those who tune in. As Mat said, I hope those who are under the weather are improving.
Over the past weekend I not only worked, but filled in on 3rd shift for one of the guys so there would be at least one of us there. My hours are now officially screwed up. I’m still running off Tuesday night. I hope you all have a great day, I need to try to sleep.
