Stock spring will never work with that cam..take Petes post to heart. Even with the right spring they need to be set up right to function properly.

Had a heck of a time getting rif of my 73 noone wanted the rubber front bumper...bang for the buck? For some reason the 70 something BB 74 or so cars are less than youd think.
74-82 are fairly reasonable and rode better than the ear;ier ones. Always wanted a 70 LT1 but prices are through the roof.

Ah,lust...favorite car of all time, first one was a 67 rs.

Looks great in white btw.

you probably already know this but that is a low compression motor so dont go crazy with cam timing.

Keep us posted, love the car!

Need to crawl under the 02 the DS tailight has gone out constantly since it was new I dont even replace it anymore.
Tahoes S10s etc have the same issue. Dealer knew it was an issue didnt have a fix.

Yes bad idea. The ABS module is also underneath and gets exposed to the elements. Dont even bother replacing it, just pull the fuse. Stops the same no matter what if the brake light doesnt bother you.

This is why Ill never buy another new/late model car.Cost of electronics/modules will kill you, Ive replaced 2 so far avg. %700 ea

$765 wont even get you a bachelor apt out here. 40-50k is damn near poverty level..about where Im at and I certainly cant make it on that even with renting the extra room out and I dont spend money on a damn thing . No new clothes, eating out, etc.

On firing up, once the clip is on. Maybe a month or two realistially. Trying to find a place to move and do that on top of a million other things.

Beach, it was a complete kit from Pace Performance. heard it was discontinued, ask for Chuck Fitch over there if they have it hes the one to talk to.

If not I found that CV products makes the parts for them you can save a good bit of dough that way. If youre spinning it make sure the ps pump is valved right for it. THere are a lot of cheap mini pumps that look the part but wont hold up to the abuse.

Moroso makes one similar to it but I dont think the alt will work on a short pump sbc.

Get ahold of Mseven he knows someone who makes them.....may be another source.

On polishing yes its a pita...anyone who says its as simple as taking a cast piece using a wire wheel and mothers..LOL
not.

Best to pay someone for it really. Getting set up with the right stuff including some specailty hand tools costs a bundle but being as Ive done every piece on the car including the bellhousing, stainless brake/fuel lines I figured in the long run it was worth it.
Fun when the wheel grabs a part out of your hand and throws is at your shin/feet at light speed lol.

The bowl is under the valve youll need to pull them out to see. If you dont have a compressor stick a deep socket on top of the retainer and give it a good wack with a hammer then pull the keepers out. Use a pair of goggles. Not the most conventional method but it works.

Yeah they are on there loose for the time being. Guess when I took the ps pulley off and reinstalled it I didnt put it back on far enough so its not lined up right so it has to come back off. Hopefully it works ok I dont want to get into water pump shims etc.

Honestly this whole ordeal was an expensive pita from the start but I wont go into it. Just dont like having what everyone else at the local cruise in has though. Guess theres a price to pay.

Noticed a nice drip[ of gasket sealer running down off the water pump lol. Pictures are forever.

Got my pulley set up on finally.
Fuel line rockers and distributor and its ready to fire finally. Just need some time.

This is how it was supposed to be outta the box

What I did with it. Man polishing is a pain and a mess.
ARP chit adds up too;should handle a buttload of rpm without any belt issues though. Lightweight too.

Regardless of what the almighty (sarcasm) Gordon says the power is in the heads...cam intake tuning gearing etc compliment it.
Bolt ons, exhaust are a start but to get real power you need to get into the motor.

Doing the heads and intake will net some nice increases but leaving the stock cam in is counterproductive as you cant take advantage of the extra flow, you need to get those valves to open further and stay open longer so to speak.

Get a good tuner who hopefully can tune the car in person.
Mail order is only so good, you wouldnt believe how much is there in messing with the tune, its power to be had.

Opinions will vary.

If all you do is portmatch dont waste your time with tuning youll really feel no difference even though it helps some.Just not enough to feel in your butt.

8000 mi is too much imo regardless of what you read, sounds like the oil was tired. I cringe when I hear of people going 15k on synthetic and only changing the filter.

Clean insides usually means it was changed at regular intervals. Look inside a motor where it goes and goes and goes between changes, you wont believe what you see even with lower mileage.

Lots of the LSx motors have noises.

My 02 5.3 has always had noisy lifters and used some oil since day one when new. Piston slap all kinds of fun stuff.
112k miles and still strong as hell though. Was told when new they all do that, there was a buletin but no fix.

M/Ts are the only tire going on the rear full time.

If you have a ton of power and are running around on street tires youre just asking for problems ie wrecking it if you get into the throttle on a reg basis. Id rather replace tires a little more often than the car because I was too cheap to get the right tire. I only paid $130 ea,not much more than a reg street radial.

Andy her name is on nothing except as a rider on the policy. Registration and car note is all mine.
Credit union may get paid off but Ive covered a number of those payments so as far as Im concerned shes behing. Talked to the sheriffs about it, I have a green light if I want. Dont have to tell her anything just do it.

Andy its more like Prozac described it.

It isnt Karma its just people in general these days. They are shit, expect everything for nothing.

its not even a generation thing, society has become one with a sense of entitlement no matter what the age. F that I work my ass off for mine, Im not giving it to anyone else espectially some loser bitch in her 50s. Kinda reminds me of someone I almost married once. Selfish and thoughless as hell with no conscience or sense of shame/guilt. Im really starting to hate them, no bueno. The only honest ones Ive met charge by the hour. LOL

BTW Im taking the car back in April when theres one payment left on it...unannounced. It will be silently Ebayed

Thats how Karma happens.

PS...may have found a house to share with a garage for myself...well see.

LOL...I have a "regular" ad posted there also, I just sent that one to the dogs out of frustration emailing and talking to people this morning when I could have been getting some sleep before work this evening.

I dont own, just rent it. Heres what will happen. The owner thinks its gold plated and he can get more if I move. thing is he couldnt get within 400 of what hes getting now. Ill move and the douch will call back in 60 days guaranteed cause I know he aint going to find anyone to pay this much (almost 1800)

Anyway Ill probably end up giving notice soon. It gets old...all Im looking for is someone with a real job that sleeps at night and can pay the bill..

Fwiw I have never smoked in my place...to have someone smoking weed here could cost me my job should anything ever crack off to this address. They are pretty strict. I dont really care if someone does, most do-just cant do it here.

Morel is good just not cheap. I remember CFI-EFI posting about a Chevy GM V6 hr lifter that would work as a retrofit type.

Comp imo is overrated/priced. Id buy a custom ground cam if I had to but not much else. They are so big many parts are outsourced and it would seem hard to keep tabs on QC.

On the ebay lifters have no experience with that particular one.
