Yes, when I installed my FAST XFI, I only lost instant mileage and MPG

Dash is powered, essentially by the wires coming from the starter

I took the two wire fusible that went bad and stripped the two red wires back, and then put a length of 14 gauge fusible link onto the two red wires and used a metal C clip to crimp all 3 wires together, then wrapped it in friction tape.

I took all 3 ends that connect to the starter, and stripped them back and put them into a new ring connector and it's all good

Basically, it is redone exactly as it was originally except for the C-clip

If anyone wants a length or two of the 14 guage fusible link let me know, I bought a roll for $7.99 at NAPA

Baby doll is back on the road ready for tune tweaking

I looked at that a little, do you have to mount a block for the maxi fuse to plug into?

Bogus, please post a link, my 2 wire #16 fusible link cuts out when I wiggle it, so I will do the same.

I need to replace the 2 wire into the 16 link

The Dual Synch distributor makes it a piece of cake to install, I can tweak the timing to the FAST XFI program once I warm up the engine, probably next Thursday,

travelling for business Mon-Tue, & Wed eve is booked, supposed to rain all week anyway.

Fire in the hole!

It kicked over on the first try, darn I'm getting good.

But,,,,I still need to put the valve covers on, But,,, I'm too tired to spend another hour on it, Oil pressure was @ 60-psi

Next I'll let it idle and check the fans and get hot, look for leaks, burp the radiator, then shut it off and let it cool down...

I'll post a video of the idle when I get the covers put on.

The Big Duration HR cam made 430-rwhp & 460-rwtq, but the valve overlap caused fuel smell in the exhaust that I just got tired of,

Should button it up Saturday, very close, just been short on time. It's been off the road since August.

All I need to do is put ion the radiator, AC Condenser, Compressor, coolant and put valve covers on and fire it up,

FAST program should be fine the way it is, but I'll check it out after I road test and look for leaks, re-tighten bolts etc.

This could be the first year I am caught up on all of the mods I have wanted to do, I just might become a, a, a, WAXER!

Down by the starter there are a couple of fusible links, how do you know the size etc? They are pretty cracked an weathered looking

I think I will cut the stock ones out and add a fuse holder in it's place while i have the starter out.

Since I can not swing the Hot Rod Power Tour this year, I think I'll drive over & back on Saturday to this show and then again to the Funfest in Sept.

Are the new Condenser's think like the picture? I want to reaplace the stock unit but I wonder if the R134a is more efficient or what? The return tubes are much smaller than the stock unit

The cam lobes they are sending you sound good. Short advertised duration with a lot of lift. That's good for matching up driveability and power. I personally don't think you need the lobe centers spread out that far (114) but all it will do is make the power curve more gradual and hold on longer at the expense of some low/midrange. I'd expect it to drive very good on the street.

Will

Thanks Will, I'm pumped about getting it back on the road, I only drive it @ 2 months last year, it spent 3 months at paint, and 3 months at tune.

I was able to do 3 legs of the Hot Rod Power Tour before the paint and tune, so this year it should be all driving on road time with my son, he turns 15 so I get to teach him more about quality 60's & 70's rock & roll music :-)

Had a long talk with Bullet Cams yesterday, flat out great people! They will take the time to talk with you if you need.

Regarding the split ration rockers, they said yes, when using the AFR heads, the EXH ratio inefficiency is very good, so slowing down the rocker with the 1.5 will actually boost the TQ in stead of using a 1.6's on the EXH. This was exactly my thought, on accident of course, but I knew the AFR EXH flow efficiency we @ 85% based on my flow charts, so there was no need to leave it open as long, and by using a .612" lift on the Intake, this helps the top end but sacrifices some low end TQ. Since I have 210cc heads, I did not want to kill anymore of my HP than necessary.

This does not affect the timing events, only the speed of the open and close of the valve and the lift. So, I'll be using 1.52-Exh & 1.6-Intake on the new cam

Cam specs are;
228/234 @ .050
284/289 @ .006
114 CL
.3825 lobe x 1.60 = .612"
.3825 lobe x 1.52 = .581"
Overlap at .050 = 3*
Overlap at .006 = 58.50*

So of the stuff came below and the cam will be ground this week and be back in my grimy hands next week.

Melted cast iron? Melt point is @ 2300+ degrees

Glazing is more like case hardening in a certain spot due to the heat

Don't over think it, no disrespect meant, but like Bogus suggests, rough it up with with some heavy grit sand paper and call it good.

Think about the clamp force that the PP exerts, then think about the 1st or 2nd time you dump the clutch, that "few" thousandths of surface "friction" will be gone.

Its way more about clamp and friction material than it is about the surface, until, of course, your glaze the F.W surface and slippage begins, followed by stinky smell and obscene language, blah blah

Turning "IS" the correct term, this is done on a lathe

surface grinding is typically for a fine, finish, taking off as little as .001" at a time or more up to .010" if you are using something like an 08/16 or a 12/24 with 60 grit wheel,

YES, you can take off more material using a wet grinder to dissipate the heat but every flywheel resurface shop will us a Blanchard grinder which uses a cluster of stones mounted to grind small, medium and large CRS plates

Stupid crap really makes me mad,,, the timing cover is new and the seal is leaking because the timing cover is a cheap stamping type cover and teh front seal hole is slightly off center and was not sealing at the 9, 12 and 3 o'clock areas, so the hole is off center towards the bottom of the engine, rubbing only in the bottom 1/3 of the gasket.

Anyway, I pulled the hub today during lunch and took the cover off.

All I need to do is take the timing chain off and hook some thin welding rod onto the lifters to pull them up away from the cam without the lifters coming out, then slip the cam out.

Also, I am contemplating using 1.52 rockers on the intake side with 1.6's on the exhaust side, anyone have any experiences with this?

My buddy ol'Rj does this, he tried the 1.52's on the intake and then the exhaust and his track results showed that using them in the intake probably allowed for better scavenging using the 1.6's on the EXH.

6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other, had to drain the coolant because of the water pump, had to take the front of the engine off anyway, did not have to pull the headers and y-pipe by leaving it in.

By Thursday I should have the cam in a box and on its way back to Bullet in Mississippi.

OK, I've been sick for the past 3 weeks, but today I made good progress, unfortunately I did not pick up a damper puller so that is where I stopped,

I did check the AC Condenser that I bought it it is @ 1.0" thick and the stock condenser is 1.75-2.0 thick

Everything is stripped down except the damper and cover, I'll grab a puller and get the cam out on Thursday or Friday

It is subjective, for me, I only heard noise under acceleration up to 2000 rpm in 1st and 2nd, when the clutch is dis-engaged and and above 2000-rpm it was fine.

Your options are extremely limited with the ZF, you get to choose from aluminum and steel and what you get is what you have. Its not a show stopper IMO

I changed over to the TKO-600 because , at the time, I was unable to prevent clutch slippage with my engine when I was seeking max HP/TQ @ 2-3 years ago, others did not seem to have the same problem, some did some didn't.
