Rust is a C3 killer, check those areas carefully. If it truly has always been garaged, it should be fine.

If that checks out, it sounds like a great deal!

Volzfan and I got covers from Corvette Originals in GA. He does more than just the C5 seats he lists. In fact, the guy who recommended him to us has them on his '90 seats, and they look really nice.

Regarding colors, materials, and stitching, he can do about anything you would want. They're still not cheap, but a lot less than the Knochs. And he's a good guy to talk to.

I've only got about 5000 miles on mine, but I'm really happy with them so far.

I suspect the Huskers will have a really good 2010 season, with a BCS bowl a very good possibility. I'm impressed with the progress Coach Pelini is making, and fully expect them to beat Texas this year. Yeh, they're getting thrown in the deep end for 2011, but I think they'll do fine.

Down here, our expectations aren't nearly as high. Regardless, come tomorrow, and many other Saturdays this fall, I'll be right here:

Yes, you certainly need to stick around. There’s a boat load of knowledge on this board, exceedingly so for C4s, and people willing to help.

And pics of that custom are encouraged.

Trae. Just a side note, my MIL and her husband both work at a very large facility in Kentucky that specialize in making electric actuators in all shapes, sizes, strengths, and speeds. These are high grade / medical quality actuators, and I can probably get them at or lower than cost.

If you would like, list the exact travel specs, maybe the weight of the headlight and linkage assembly the actuator lifts, and preferred speed.

I can use that info to either pick a part number or see if one can be made to those specs, and get some pricing info for anyone interested in making this kit at home.

The actuators I'm using have a travel of 4", at a rate of about 1/2" per second. The travel would need to be the same, but a rate of around 1.5" to 2" per second would be ideal.

I didn't measure the load, but its pretty low. An actuator rated for lifting 50 lbs should easily be strong enough.

Mine are still working fine, but I might be interested in some faster ones if the price is right and I could make them work.

The cost is high due to custom actuators and material/labor costs, and we have sold several hundred at that price. The actuators are custom made by our supplier for our requirements. Each bracket IS hand made in the USA. The wire harness' are handmade at our facility also. We have been producing the kits for 3 years and have been selling through a few of the large aftermarket corvette parts suppliers for 2 years.

There's no doubt you guys make a really nice kit. But I couldn't justify the cost when I knew I could design and build my own system for much less. The large majority of people don't have that capability and/or motivation - obviously I am the exception.

How do C4 and C6 seats stack up for comfort and ease of mounting in a C3?

Well comfort is very subjective, but about anything is more comfortable than early C3 seats. I've heard the later clam shell seats are much better.

As far as mounting, I know that both C4 seats and C6 seats have been installed in C3s, but I haven’t personally talked with anyone who has done that. My guess is they will each require about the same degree of fab work as the C5 seats I installed, unless you want to keep the power tracks, which would probably require some floor pan modifications as well.
