In that case, you're in trouble on this website. It's the only way I make it through half the postings.

Good morning CGs!

How is the day so far. I'm sitting here typing away as wifey is cooking breakfast, so this'll be short.

Gonna grab some grub, then hit the weights, then I have to clean the pool. I'm debating whether or not to close it today since it's my weekend. It'll be in the 80s this week and I could go for one last swim. Maybe I'll close it next weekend

If I've got time I might tinker with the vette a little, I'm not sure. Anyone else have plans today?

Hope everyone has a great day!

They also used to "rebuild" brake linings. But what's the point? Is it still cost effective? Or is it easier to just get a new one and slap it on? I'd have to see the price of parts and time involved before I'd rebuild it.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it's what was suggested above. 4" total diameter, 2.5 inlet/outlet. Not SS, AGAIK.

http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=59926

I ordered my catback from them and got the best price. You can find various coupons floating around the internet on car sites.

Got a reminder email from Rockauto, so TTT.

Your discount code is:

1102887724941

Using Your Discount Code
Enter the code above in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart. If you are using our traditional HTML catalog, please click the "Apply" button to the right of the field. Your discount will automatically appear, subtracted from your order total.

Please note: We sometimes get calls from people who put the word "discount" in front of their code and do not get the discount. Please enter ONLY the discount code, no other words or numbers.

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices. There's no limit on order size or the number of orders. Use the code for your next order, and share the code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on October 26, 2008; so don't wait!

Good morning CGs!

Happy Monday to everyone. Yeah for me, it's my weekend. Just got home and I'm ready to relax.

Wifey and I have some errands to do today. I have to go to the SOS to renew my license plates. After that we are going to the mall to return some clothes and find some new stuff. I'm gonna try to nap first, but we'll see how that goes.

How was everyone's weekend? Pretty uneventful here. Post up your war stories!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm no expert, so here are a few ideas I'll toss out -

If it has a history code for no communication, wouldn't that indicate either an open circuit between the two or possibly a bad ECM? Perhaps caused by a heat related failure? Once it warms up there is a short or something and once it cools down if resets? Like with a bad ignition coil? How are all of the connections? Is there any corrosion or loose wires/plugs?

I see they tried a "known good CCM" - what about the ECM? Could the ECM have gotten fried from a bad opti? I know everyone is quick to blame the optispark, but doesn't the ECM receive its pulses from that to tell when to start?

Just a couple ideas.

Interesting note - I saw on the news today that the cost of salt (bulk for cities to spread in the winter, not table salt) will be triple the cost this year over last. Crazy. Most cities/counties up here ran out last winter due to the heavy snowfall.

I'd say that's excessive. I'd be looking at other potential issues such as alternator (voltage regulator) or battery drains.

Good Morning CGs!

How is everyone's day so far? Finally have a few minutes and I've been trying to catch up on some old threads I missed. Seems as if everyone is doing well.

Weather is decent now, supposed to rain tonight. I really need to wash my truck, too, it's filthy. I'm really bad about it, too. I know I should do it more often, but I always go "it's gonna rain, anyway..."

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? I have three more days of work, so no weekend for me Post up what you've got going on!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning CGs!

How is everyone's day so far? Sorry I missed chat yesterday, I had a work deal that lasted pretty late, so I didn't get home and to bed until 2pm as opposed to getting home at 8, as usual. Oh well.

What's new and exciting with everyone? Sounds like Blondie is getting her car back in shape? That's a good start. Chris - anymore news on the job situation?

I'm gonna cut this short because I have to hit the weights and then I'm going in to work 4 hrs early tonight. Awesome!

Hope everyone has a great day!

THURSDAY JOKE TIME:

Blind Bunny and Blind Snake

A blind bunny and a blind snake were born at the same time, and grew up together, becoming the best of friends. Neither one knew what kind of creature the other one was, so one day they decided to touch each other and describe the sensations.

The snake went first. "You're all furry, have two long floppy ears and a fluffy little tail."

The bunny was over-joyed, shouting, "I'm a bunny, I'm a bunny!"

Then the bunny felt the snake. "You've got dry, scaly skin, beady eyes, and a forked tongue."

The snake moaned, "Oh, no, I must be a lawyer..."

For me, I just got rid of the air pump (actually gutted it instead of buying the pulley for $125) and removed all of the air lines. Cap the lines on the exhaust manifolds and you're set. I left the EGR, because it does serve a useful purpose and it's easier than deleting it. My two front cats are eliminated, but the main is still there. I will be replacing it eventually with a hi-flo, just haven't gotten around to it.

I agree, Jeff, that every company will have it's issues, but so does GM. Who was it, CC(?), who installed his windshield weatherstripping and then had it tear off 6 months later? I personally can't justify the cost of GM stuff. Just MHO.

Hey Joel -

Gurnee is about an hour and fifteen minutes from me or so (north). It's pretty close to the Wisconsin border. I've never actually been up there, although I've heard it's nice. A lot of people go there because that's where Six Flags waterpark is and Gurnee Mills shopping center (one of the biggest malls in America). I've only lived in IL about 4 years, so I still haven't experienced all of it's greatness....lol. Next time you come up drive the vette and we can have a little get together!

Good luck.

PS - you do have to be careful, too, like stated. I have bought a lot of crap off ebay that I didn't need, yet I've gotten some great deals on other stuff. It's hard not to impulse buy, sometimes. And since you can't hold the stuff in your hand, it's hard to judge the quality.

Local markets always very slightly. I personally tend to agree with Bogus, and wouldn't pay more than $8,000. Different markets may be 7000-9000. But understand the higher you get, you're in LT1 territory and most people would prefer that right out of the box for the power difference.

I think the other issue is the same one I faced - it's crappy reproduction weatherstripping. The stuff I installed has never sat right and I don't think it ever will. I'll eventually replace it with Wilcox.

Good morning CGs!

How is the day going so far. Just woke up and my back is still sore from Sunday. Did a little stretching/cardio lat night and that helped, so I'll have to stretch a little more today.

Who's been following the Olympics lately? I really haven't watched much of them, but I like to read the little blurbs about the athletes when I check the news online. Amazing what some of these athletes can accomplish.

Weather is supposed to be nice today, I'll enjoy it while I can. Back to work tonight, so hopefully it's not too humid.

Yesterday's chat was hurting, guys, so let's all jump in and say hello.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Noticed the car is getting bid up some. Motor not so much.

You won't really see the bidding action until the last day (usually the very end). That's how it works 90% of the time.

Change the rear freeze plug along with the head gasket. That's what went on my 93.

Shoot, I pay that almost every MONTH for insurance on four cars!

But that's because we know how *you* drive....

Here in IL the first ticket you get for no insurance is a "gimmee" - the court charges $50 only. But if you take the conviction, you have to get SR-22 insurance (basically for morons who are high risk) and you have to prove it to the Secretary of State every month, otherwise they suspend your license. The second no insurance ticket is $500. The third is $2500. Mandatory fines.

Good luck and I hope it works out. Let us know if there's frame damage!

When you say browser, do you mean the little search bar that is in internet explorer to help you find things? If so, that's your spyware. If it's gone that's a good thing.

Matthew

PS - I use spybot search & destroy and mozilla firefox instead of IE. My cousin is an IT guy at a big company in Chicago and he put them on my computer. Said they're better, so I believe him.

That really sucks. But the only way you are going to get anything done is through your own insurance company. As far as the doctor, tell them it's from a car accident follow-up and it will be billed under the insurance policy. Any other expenses are unfortunately a civil matter and more than likely you'd have to sue him to get it back. As far as your rates going up, you're SOL. Really an unfortunate event all around.

Keep us posted.

Chris - It's water weight. Don't focus so much on the scale, because it lies. You should go based on how you feel, clothing fit, energy level, etc....You're doing fine, just keep it up. And make sure not to "starve" yourself, because your body will revolt and actually cause you to gain weight. It's a reactionary measure in your metabolism. Keep us posted.

Dale - movie was decent, but Jack Nicholson did a great job with the character. I just thought the line was funny

John - just tell your guys to go cut the grass again. They don't need to know how to shoot.

Good morning CGs!

How is the day so far? I was up with the baby last night, she didn't want to cooperate going back to sleep, lol. I'm a little tired but I'll make it. Had a fun day yesterday jet skiing. We were on the beach from about 11-6. Perfect weather, good friends. Can't beat that on a Sunday. I'm a little beat up after about 3 hours of jet skiing with the waves (Lake Michigan) but it was fun. Used a ton of sunscreen since I'm pasty white, but I still got a little tan, anyway.

How was everyone else's weekend? Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew
