I just finished all the stuffing around getting Windows installed twice, since i knew full well that x64 Edition wont run alot of the items i use alot, i installed x86 Pro as well.

I will only really use x64 for when i play games (as in proper PC games) cause when im doing that, i dont use any of the other programs anyway, but x64 will run alot of games far better, and in some games it also allows extra content.

So after 2 days of working on this, ive got it all up and running the way i want it.

I was using a ThermalTake Xaser 3 case that ive had for a couple years (since the days i used to run an AMD Athlon XP 3200 Barton that was overclocked to a rediculous speed) cause this case alowed me to fit alot of fans and kept the whole computer running nice and cool, but when the temps rose abit, the roar of the fans got to be abit loud.

So ive switched over to an Antec Super Lanboy case, gone from 11 case fans down to 2, and considerably less fan noise.

I spent a fair few hours pulling all the gear out of the Tt case and putting it into the Antec, and after i was all done, i went to fire it up and it was a no go, the power supply has had the dick, after quite a few years of faithful service and 24hr/7 day a week continual running it has decided now that its done its duty (its an Antec TruPower 480w). Its all still in good shape, it just has alot of trouble turning on, once its on, its fine. I replaced it with a new Antec NeoPower 550.

So the rig is all up and running now, re-partitioned the Raid set to give it 3 sections (1 each for the 2 operating systems and 1 for the commonly installed programs)

XP Pro x86 edition still runs exactly the same as it did before, and is the default operating system (loads first if no selection is made) and XP x64 edition runs when its selected on boot up, programs that are able to take advantage of it go alot better.

Well that's my saturday and sunday all used up, what did the rest of you all do?

Yuppers. That's my take on the subject.

To be honest, I don't have any faith in these salvage vendors if they are selling the motor without the matching/mating flywheel. Seems rather stupid to me.

I'm with CFI-EFI.Your choice of any flywheel to suit 1 pce seal .
Given that Vette LT1's only came with DM flywheels they may be a little long in the tooth as regards the internal rubber

spelling is truly the least of my concerns... but it does help us, collectively, help others.

I don't really need it, but I use it...

Mine was a very early 87, august of 86 i think it rolled out. Is your wife's not labeled on the end of the left door? You can also tell by the VIN how early in the production year it was.

the ribbon is toast.

contact www.vette2vette.com if you want to upgrade to the newer regulator.

I would still be shocked if the glue would interfere with the function of the window.

as for the radio, you need to find a shop or friend or someone that is able to fix the wiring issues. that's crap as far as their explaination.

Add one more thing. The motor stops running when I let go of the button. I'll have more info tomorrow I hope. The windows do rattle ALOT though. When you close the door, sounds like they are going to break. Inner/outer seals need to be replaced but it sounds like alot of work.

As of right now, the window will not move. It's stuck in 1/2 inch position. Yea, the framless sucks. I grabbed the glass with the door open and tugged on it, holding it up it will stay in place, but as soon as I let it go it slides back down 1/2 inch.....I know I have the ribbon. I think the later 86s might have gotten the better style. Anywho, it's nto the tint that was restricting it. It was teh glue when I yanked the tint off that first night. I went back with a blade and tint removing cleaner and cleaned it up before the new tint was put on. They were going to charge me 100 dollars to remove two peices of tint. Cost me 7 dollars and an hour of my time. Tint is platinum to. Looks like a mirror because it reflects. Back on topic, I stopped pushing the button because I don't want to burn it out. Only 60 dollars? I was reading in Midamericaas magazine that the window regulator/motor was 350 a side. I must have been looking at something else.

Oh yea, just to add about the stereo. It came home from the shop today still messed up and the guy said it was my ignition giving off a radio interference and that my motor was big so that was contributing to it as well. I think that's B.S. but they don't seem interested. They did put in a new CD player in hopes that it would fix it but it made it worse. Now it pops and makes static. Atleast this time it's not the cars fault....It's the shops fault.

hm... I don't remember when the ribbon ended... I know it was gone in 1987.

new motors are not $350, more like $60 and about 2 hrs to replace...

I would be shocked if the tint is stopping the window, will it go down with the door open? you see, these are frame less windows, so there isn't anything to stick to, really.

Does the motor continue to run, even when the glass stops?

One week ago, I stripped my window tint off. I found some glue on the inner window seal on the passenger side and I scraped it off because the window got stuck on it. I just had my windows re-tinted Tuesday. I tried to roll them down today because I had to wait two days for the film to firm up and so I would not void my warranty. Anyway, the passenger window will not roll down. The glue sticking to the window was the first thing I thought! No, that isn't it. When I hit the button, you can hear it running in the door and the window will move maybe 1/2 inch. If it is running, then that takes out the motor being shot which is a relief because they are around 350 dollars.
I do know that the earlier ones run off a ribbon and they do tend to break but it keeps popping in my head that this did not occur until the tint was removed. Is it out of the quiestion that when it got stuck, that it possibbly snapped the ribbon or that the window got moved off the track. It's freezing outside today so I am just brain storming until tomorrow. It worked fine before. Drivers side works normal as well and I am adding that I am not going to upgrade to the later style motors because it's to much hassle and expensve. Plus, I am a novice at wiring and don't want to tackle anything that big.

Thanks.....

Wait a min. Why dont you just get a tape recorder that has two cassette slots? I used to dub like that all the time. Press play on one and dub on the other. It would usually have a dub switch. About 10 years ago they were all over the place.

So your asking if the head phone jack has a adapter that can be plugged into a mic jack so it can be recorded onto another tape? Yes, that should be true.

My mother in law works for the local school district... they need to be able to make recordings of discussions for records. Then, at times, they must provide copies of these discussions for court hearings (special ed crap, the parents want everything and sue when they don't understand their precious child has an IQ of 70).

However, I have a memory problem... it's been so long since I dealt with these things... if the recorder has a headphone jack and a mic jack, the two should be connectable and that's that. The data off one will go to the other and be recorded... right???

Thanks!!!!

It's time... I hate it... but I have to do it... Create posting rules for this place.

1. Please be sure you put the discussion where it belongs.

2. Please play nice. I don't like snide comments for the sake of hurting others. Seems petty to me. Take it to PM.

3. No pissing contests.

4. No wars from other sites continued here. I don't mind if someone finds a huge issue from another forum and wishes to cross-post it, that's fine, but I don't want arguements to pass across the wall...

5. No thread hi-jacking. We have had a lot of that here, and it really is hard to read the progression. Tech threads that have gone off on some utterly unrelated tangent are not worth reading and will discourage folks from participating. Take it to PM's, take it to another thread. A suggestion: if another topic needs to be started, start it, but cross link it to the original, that will help everyone understand how it came to be, and why it's a different thread. Stupid posts will be deleted.

6. Finally, most importantly, no harassment. Period. Not by email, not by PM. Nada.

7. Please take a few moments and install iSpell, it is an Internet Explorer spell checker. All I am asking for are posts that are easy to read and understand. The better the writer communicates their need, the better the answer.

8. Carfax... we can't have folks posting requests for them or offering them. Carfax will come down upon us like a ton of bricks. Screw that.

This is a living document, as such, it will change from time to time.

That's TWO reasons to celebrate!

I get kind of a breather today. I get to work at the office in the town where I live, instead of the one an hour away. Plus I get to have lunch at my favorite Mexican place, Jorge's!

Chicken tacos on fried flour tortillas! YUM!

And hopefully I can get out of work early and do a little shopping!

Have a good 'un!

Lets hope that I don't screw it up,I ain't gonna post about it until I see more.
Even if I can't swing the 56,I still get to drive it when I want.
He would like me to drive his truck in the xmas parade.
The best thing is I met a great person and started a new friendship. That's the icing on the cake.

whoa... a 56? dude, that's hot.

Even a low end car, all original, but not a 100pt car is worth > $75k.

if it has the right options, it could double.

Good Morning Gurus!

Yet another pressure-cooker day for me. I'm sensing a pattern...

I drove my little '89 Amigo to work today. I'm about to have it fitted with some new sporty red seats. Then it's getting new shoes. I might upgrade the stereo a bit...

It's only money, right?

Enjoy your day folks!

I was at the oil change place yesterday getting my 84 winterized and the owner came in to talk with me.
He said that it's none of my buisiness but you seem kind of a young man to have a Corvette,If you don't mind me asking, how did you come about owning a Corvette?
I then told him the story of how after years of wanting it and knowing that it was my destiny to own it some day and then how I've fixed it up and how I've got a long way to still go on it.
He told me I looked about 35 or so and couldn't believe that I will be 46 in Jan. :thumbright: He invited me to come to his house and drive a model A ford and told me that he had a 1956 Corvette that I might like to have to fix up.
I told him right away that I definately couldn't afford to buy one of those and he said that he knew that and to just come by and drive it and if I liked it then we could work out something.
I've known this guy for years, from the service station and I know he's not a flake.
So, maybe more than one corvette is in my future. If not,It will be fun as hell to drive a 56,and make a new friend.
