ive got 315/40/ 17 on rear fit no problems 18 are just going to be higher slightly depends how low it is.

With a standard 9.5 in wheel a 315 is too wide. It will fit but its not very smart. You need an 11 in rim to fit the 315s.

On a standard 9.5 I wouldn't go bigger than 285s.

what i've learned from all of this was that along with the cam dowel, the drive pin on the rear of the newer style opti needs to be able to go through the cam gear, and into the end of the cam. This, along with the cam dowel, drives the new opti. So, I'd have to change the cam.

Correct.

Dwarf listed the first link I was thinking of. It shows how to vent an unvented opti. I did this with my older style opti before I changed the cam. I really helped with the opti problems I was having.

Oh I see you are wanting to install the newer style opti. I thought you wanted to vent the older style (which is also possible)

For the opti swap you will need a 95 LT-1 timing cover (ebay $30), Timing cover gakset, 3 new timing cover seals, a 95 opti, the correct cam pin length (I used the Lt-4 hotcam :D), the 95/96 opti wire/harness (very expensive from GM $80), and GM venting lines, lots of RTV, possibly a new oil pan gasket, etc. Oh yea a special Kent moore LT-1 hub puller also.

Obviously it is quite a process. I would recommend reading this tech tip from Corvetteforum: http://corvetteforum.com/techtips/vie ... TopicID=231&TopicID=2

It's about electric WP install but it covers most of what you are going to have to do.

I've changed over to the newer style opti on my 92 but I did it all during my cam change and basically complete topend/timing rebuild.

95-96 length on top

92-94 on the bottom.

Yes it does drive the opti.

Not sure.

I will say that the only reason I changed over to a MSD 6al was from being tired of the inconsistant Lt-1 rev limiter.

Now, I just set my limited with the little pills on the box and I've never had a problem since. My Revs with my hotcam setup etc are now set at 6300 but I generally shift at 5900 or 6000.

My personal opinion is the factory rev limter and factory tac lag is garbage on these cars.

All good points except for the not very noticable difference between the looks. I have always thought the wide body made quite a difference in the ZR-1 and the wheels with the large deep rear end dish was always quite stunning. Under the hood was also quite and impressive look too!

Its not hard. Do it yourself. You certainly aren't going to screw up the ABS.

Just bleed the brakes correctly after you install the new pads. I use the old fashioned find a friend to pump the brakes and add fluid when needed. Wait for the outside line to quit letting out any air bubbles and your done.
