The injectors, fuel pump, coil and wires are brand new. They have about 200miles on them. When I pressed the gas pedal down it didn't even try and go. The rpms didn't go up at all.
The car had just under a full tank. When it happened I shut the car off and started it right away and the problem was gone.

After weeks and weeks of trouble with the vette it was finally running properly, so the lady and I decided to take it for a long drive to the beach. The car drove great all the way there and most of the way back. All of a sudden on the way back the car started to slow down. I couldn't accelerate at all. I'd push the pedal to the floor but nothing. I pulled over to the side of the road, put it in neutral and tried to rev the engine. Still nothing. I shut it off then back on and the problem went away. It drove great all the way home. I scanned for codes but came up nothing. My first thought was TPS, but it measured fine. Any ideas? I'd hate for this to happen again.

You should be able to repaint them. I repainted all the grey parts on my 90 with dash paint.

Yes actually there is I had to do the same thing before I fixed my loose steering tilt mechanism...

If you reach around down under the steering column (you will have to remove the plastic/carpeted hush panel), you should be able to find a thin metal rod which terminates just above the brake pedal -- if you can locate that and push "down" (towards the pedals) you should hear the high beam dimmer switch make the "click" sound and turn off (or on...) your high beams..

Good luck...

Perfect, thanks. I'll try that as soon as I get home as a temporary fix.

jimmers, you and I have been in the same boat a lot lately. I just had it done 2 weeks ago and it cost me $400 parts and labor. Once I read about needing a spring compessor and it being a pain in the ass I sent it out to my regular mechanic.
My 91 has about 159,000 miles on the body and about 7000 miles on a 383 engine. Since December this car has been a pain in the ass and a cash pig. I just hate to quit when I feel I'm so close to having it running right. Right now, I'm getting ready to send it to an ace Corvette mechanic and just have him go at it. I'll just have to spend some of my sons inheritance.

I hear ya! I finally got my car fixed after 5 weeks. Turns out 2 injectors were bad. First time I drive the car after it's fixed, this happens! It never ends!

If the turn signals work OK, and it's just the high beam dimmer that is troublesome, it might not be the switch, it could be the dimmer switch rod adjustment for the high beam switch (rod is between the turn signal lever and the actual switch down at the bottom of the column.

On the other hand, if your entire column tilt mechanism is loose/worn out, that would also cause the dimmer switch to not work right, and this is a much much bigger job than just the turn signal switch...

Everything works great except the high beams. I pull it back to get that click, but it won't click.
Is there any easy to get my regular lights back for the time being? I rarely use the high beams, and this way I can atleast drive the car until I get a replacement.

I'm not sure of the proper name for it, but its very loose and I can't click my brights off. I guess I'm going to have to take it apart and check it out. How easy of a job is it? Anyone know of a good place to get a new one?

A big chunk of the money was for the engine rebuild and interior restoration. It's depressing to think I'll never get that money back!

I keep a log of all the work I do to my vette on my computer with prices, part numbers etc, and decided to add it up. In 3 years I spent a total or $21k on my vette. I don't know if I should be happy or depressed!
How much have you guys put into your vette over the years?

Go to a garage and have them do a emmisions check, that will tell you if you are rich or lean.

I checked for a vacuum leak but didn't find any. I'm not ruling that out because we all know how hard they are to find. I unplugged the est wire, set the timing to 6 BTDC, then plugged it back in. I'm trying to get my laptop to work with my car again so I can datalog and see exactly what's going on. I figure if it was running rich though, I would get an error code about an 02 sensor.

Well I fixed the distributor. It turns out the fork was barely on. I set the timing and all was well, for a bit! The car started to do it again after a short drive. I took it back home and checked the timing. The timing hadn't moved. I went to go drive it to work today, but it was much worse. Any ideas as to what is going on? How can it get worse just sitting in the driveway?

Well it turns out my disbributor bolt was loose causing the disbributor to move around. I tightened it back down and the problem seems to be gone. When I set the timing the disbributor would only go so far one way before stopping. Is this normal? I thought it should turn both ways equally?

I would think to start looking twards the injectors. Sounds to me its fuel related, could even be running too rich? When its running go behind the car and see if you smell gas or a gassy smell. That could point to it running rich. Could also be running lean as well though.

Ever since the engine was rebuilt you can smell gas behind the car. The cats and air pump are removed but it doesn't smell any worse then it has in the past. The car was tuned last year after the engine rebuild. Could a tune become bad?

edit: when it happens unplug the EST wire, if it runs better on the ignition module it could be the pickup coil or ECM.

The engine was rebuilt last year so the injectors are brand new. I don't have a MAF sensor, as its a speed density car. I could run a can of injector cleaner through it and see if it helps. The car doesnt surgre at all so I don't think its a vacuum leak.

Over the past few weeks my car has been in and out of the garage trying to fix my stumble problem, but it keeps returning. When I accelerate the car will stumble most of the time when hot or cold. I've replaced the plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, ignition module, fuel pump, and filters. I've tested the fuel pressure when the problem occurs and it stays rock solid. I'm all out of ideas!! The cats are removed so they can't be plugged. Is it possible to be a plugged muffler or somthing? IAC and TPS were replaced last year. Help!!

As much as I'd love to get a Z06, I don't have that kind of coin kicking around at the moment. I love my C4 so it would be hard to get rid of it. I just figured I'd get a bit more for it from the dealer.

The fuel pump and sock were just replaced. The engine was rebuilt last year, so the injectors are new also. Could it be that the fuel pressure is set to high? Would fuel injector cleaner would a good idea to try?

I posted a few weeks ago about a huge stumble when accelerating. It turned out to be the fuel pump. The fuel pump, all screens and fuel filter were replaced. When driving the other day a small stumble started. It doesnt do it all the time, but its there the majority of the time. Is it possible that the car is getting to much gas now, seeing as how there is a new fuel pump? The new fuel pump flows a bit more. Besides that I'm all out of ideas. There are no codes, wires and plugs are fine and I replaced the ignition coil a few weeks ago.

I took a look at it the other day and only found the adjustment for the height. I looked in my FSM and found the section on adjusting the window, but its extremely vague. It only shows one diagram with a stop, but its blown up so I have no idea where it is. Does anyone happen to have a picture of where they are?
Also my window seems very loose. There is alot of play when I wiggle it with one hand. Could that be from the stops?

The passenger side window on my 90 goes up at a bit of an angle. When it reaches the top I need to pull it to the side for it to go up all the way. Also if the door is open the window goes to far up. Easy fix?
