I was really impressed with the quality for the price.
The seats don't have to be removed. Just remove the seat cushion. (There's a clip in the front of the seat at the bottom) The back portion just slips right on. A tip: For the seat cushion, use a key ring to hook all the S-hooks to at the underside center of the seat.

Black86. As far as your dash bulbs, if you get them from a dealer or other local supplier they will charge you about $28 bucks each for them.
I got mine through: http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/asset ... l/homepage.asp?URLCheck=1 Seems like they were $10 bucks each if I remember correctly.

First of all let me say, to each their own. I will never put anybody down for personalizing their car and making it their own.
But since you asked for opinions: I'm not big on aero kits or even the Greenwood kits. I think Chevy did a pretty damn fine job with the original lines. I'm no "purist". I love to see people making mods to their cars. About the only thing I like is the spoiler that's on the silver coupe.

Dirt Late Model racing has gone kind of big time and it's really, really expensive. They a bast to watch. I haven't been actively involved for years, but I'm friends with several car owners and drivers. They're are a couple of local tracks and I travel to different select events in the midwest.
This is one of my favorite pics. This is Scott Bloomquist expressing his displeasure at being disqualified for not making the call in time for the feature at Kentucky Lakes speedway.

I think my next move will be to pull the pump to check on the sock and look for debris in the tank.
That will eliminate another one of the possibilities.

OK. Over the weekend I used the paper clip routine and jumped the pins on the data port to pull any codes that might be stored. All it flashed was a "12" which I believe means that the system is working and there are no codes stored.
I hooked a FP gauge to the fuel rail. As soon as I hit the key and the pump cycled. The pressure was immediately about 41 lbs. I started the car and at an idle it kept about 36 lbs and goes back up to over 40 when I blip the throttle. I let the car warm up and took at for a drive with the FP gauge still attached and taped to the windshield. I tried to recreate the conditions of when the car gave me trouble but of course she drove just find. Pressure was a steady 36 lbs and rose back up to over 40 when accelerating. Any ideas? I check on the other things.

The specifics: '88 A4, 136,000 miles.
Motor is stock. I'm having an intermittent problem. The other evening, taking off from a standing start I hit the gas pedal a little hard and then it started sputtering and died. Immediately after that it would start and idle (roughly) but as soon as you try to give it some gas it would sputter and die. It acts like it's not getting any fuel. I let the car sit overnight. The next morning I was able to start it up and drive it with no sputtering or bucking. It had done this to me a couple times before about 1 month in between occurrences. So it's not an everyday thing. My first thought was a clogged fuel filter so I replaced that and it ran fine the few times I drove it until the other evening when it showed the same symptoms again. Could the fuel pump be going out? Another thought that occurred to me is: I've got true dual exhaust on the car, but still have the original pre-cats on. At 136K miles could these be bad and giving me the problem? My theory is that they're working well enough to let the car run during normal driving, but when the motor is at temperature and I tromp on the gas, the back pressure from the old cats causes the problem. Then, when the car is allowed to sit and cool and let the back pressure bleed off, the car will run fine again. Does this sound possible? Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

Ok, I'm mulling over the idea of buying the 17x9.5 fronts and 17x11 rears from TOMZ Wheels sometime this spring. Now I'm looking at tire options.
1. I want tire that I can drive in the rain if need be. 2. I'd like to spend less than $200 a tire. 3. Road noise is not a factor, I probably couldn't hear it over my exhuast anyhow. 4. Tread wear is only a minimal factor. What do the Guru's recomend?

Typically, C4 brakes are a little stiff. If you've never driven 1 before it takes some getting used to.

The roller cam was introduced in '87 I believe. They way you described looking at your rockers, I believe you are confusing a cam with roller lifters vs roller rocker arms. Your car has a roller cam (roller lifters), but does not have roller rocker arms, although roller rockers can be installed as an upgrade over stock.
Just as a side note: it's also possible to build and engine with roller rocker arms without having a roller cam. I hope that cleared things up.

Basically these cats are junk and wouldn't pass a sniff test, but we don't have testing in downstate Illinois. My exhaust guy wouldn't do the work unless I had some kind of cat on there. They are just there to hold me over until I get a set of long tube headers and some hi-flow cats to hook into the duals.

An H or X pipe is neither more or less restrictive then the duals. What it does do is equalize exhaust pulses from side to side which allows for better exhaust scavenging from the cylinders and will also reduce some resonance.
I run 2 1/2" true duals with an H pipe. I don't have any major engine mods, but I could sure tell a SOT difference with the exhaust mod.

I know you've been busy what with rather large changes in your life lately, and you should be taking a time out and enjoying things, but weren't you working on a TPI removal/installation article? Any estimates on when to look for that?

I agree with that!!! Hail SUCKS!!! I got caught in a hail storm about 3 years ago... what a mess that was... Did you have any damage? I'll tell ya, other than somebody hitting me, a hail storm is my biggest fear. During spring and summer here (Illinois) I'm always afraid that with my car sitting in the parking lot at work a storm will blow in and bring some hail with it.

Definetly exhaust mods. The L98 has probably the most restrictive exhaust system of any C4 model. A nice free flowing exhaust system will really wake it up. The intake system is also pretty restrictive. A K&N air filter and an open air box lid will let it breathe better. There are lots of little stuff that can add up to adding some ponys. Besides what has already been mentioned. Remove the "frisbee" at the water pump pulley. That's about 10 lbs less that the motor has to spin. If it's an automatic, a high stall converter can help. Or if it has the 2:59 rear gears, a gear change up to 3:07, 3:54 or even 3:73 will really help it shoot outta the hole. (I wouldn't recommend the 3:73 for an automatic if it sees quite a few highway miles)
If you're going to open up the engine, definetly get the intake system better. You can port the existing intake and heads and with a cam swap probably get near 300 rwhp. But, you'd have to go with aftermarket equipment to get beyond that.
