A little research and I already answered on of my questions.

How EGR systems work The EGR valve recirculates exhaust into the intake stream. Exhaust gases have already combusted, so they do not burn again when they are recirculated. These gases displace some of the normal intake charge. This chemically slows and cools the combustion process by several hundred degrees, thus reducing NOx formation.

Power loss? 20hp possible.

You see, EGR does 2 things, one is to reduce NOX emissions. It does this by feeding exhaust gas back into the engine to reburn. The end resolt? lower combustion temps and a higher resistance to detonation.

The air pipes also feed cold air into the exhaust at startup. No performance effect either way.

In short, leave it.

Couple of questions.

1. On my L98, it appears that the EGR only returns exhaust gases from the passenger side. I guess it could reduce NOX emissions from that side, but what good does it do when it doesn't reburn exhaust from the drivers side?

2. How does inserting exhaust gases from the manifold (immediately after it exits the cylinder) into the intake reduce combustion temps? Seems to me that if anything, it would raise temps.

It's definitely easier to install. Even the most practiced will spend some hours R&Ring a TPI set-up where these intakes can be installed in a fraction of the time once it's set up and all changeover parts are on hand. Although of course on an LT1, there's no distributor involved in the process, I can easily R&R mine in an hour, surface cleaning and all.

There is a distributor with the TPI to LT1/mini-ram swap that I believe he is talking about.

I do want to clarify 1 thing though. As I mentioned in my pm, the warrantee is granted to the origional purchaser.
Although I am confident in the quality, there is no warrantee expressed or implied once sold. As a courtesy, I had the converter reflashed for the second purchaser.

Again, I am confident that Rex is receiving a 1st quality product, that is hand built with care, but there is no warrantee with it.

I understand the warranty situation and I'm confident that the quality of the product should be fine.

And Pete, my offer to pick up the shipping charges still stands.

Thanks again.

Most of you regulars here know what Jsup has been doing with his car. I was fortunate enough to get a great deal from him for his deep trans pan, dust cover, new in the box trans cooler and his torque converter.

Everything except the torque converter arrived yesterday. They're all in great shape and I'm happy as heck.

The torque converter is back at the manufacturer right now getting rebuilt and reflashed.

My thanks to PeteK for his invaluable help with the converter.

If anybody should have any dealings with them down the road, you should have no qualms about it.

My thanks again to both.

I didn't get a top quality show type paint job because I drive my car too much and the streets in my town are oil & chip so they get covered with rock every summer. An aquaintence body guy painted it for me. He charged me $3500. That included the repair on the nose where somebody backed over it.

When I bought mine the Ebay store was cheaper, but had shipping charges. The Iggee store was higher priced, but it included shipping. Go figure.

The electrical connector on the drivers side belt (that lets the car know the belt is fastened) is different. Other then that it's an easy swap.

I've been running KYB's for a couple years now. Great shock for the $'s.

I think next time around I'll be able to spend some more money and will probably go with Bilsteins. It's my understanding that they're a better handling shock without roughing up the ride too much.

TPI = L98

To expand a little bit. TPI means the Tuned Port Injection that's on your L98 engine. It's basically restrictive for performance purposes as it quits breathing at about 4800 rpm. If you're just staying on the street the TPI might work for you as you'll rarely, if ever see over 5000 rpm. Some performance gains can be had by switching your intake manifold and the tuned port runners that feed it. Like always, speed cost money.....how fast do you want to go?

I just bought a set of rims that have low mileage Sumitomo HTR Z tires mounted on them. I'll try the Sumo's and see what they're like.

I'm taking off a set of Falkens. These tires came on the car when I purchased it. They aren't very worn, but they're getting old and the compund is hardening. They're noisy and they ride pretty rough.

I've seen HOT DI water used as a degreaser for some metal finishing operations. Whether that's good or bad circulating through your engine block and radiator, I don't know.

Reverse osmosis is only good down to about the 3 micron level.

This means that any particulate under three Microns will get through the Membrane

Great for drinking, awful for Electrolysis. Meaning OK for the coffee maker bad for the Iron and the coolant system of a car.

The system I'm looking at removes it down to the .0001 micron level. Quite a discrepancy from the 3 micron level you mention.

I used to design RO systems for use in the pharmiceutical industry. It is PURE water. Then everything is piped through 316 stainless steel so to reduce the possiblility of the RO water absorbing impurities.

Actually, it is the water vapor by-product of combustion and fuel cell
operation that I had in mind.

BMW's H-powered 7-Series deposits a noticable puddle at the rear while
idling. I just picture such vehicles behaving like Zambonis during the
winter months, paving the roads with fresh ice as each car passes by.

Is there any solution to this besides containment - capturing the water
and draining at intervals?

.

Think of it as a "free entertainment byproduct".

Loved watching Brady get sacked!

Don't remember a lot of it though. What happened with that Pats fumble recovery that they gave back to the Giants?

Helluva 1st and 4th quarter. I think even some of the Pats fans were secretly pulling for the Giant upset.

The ref's blew that call on the fumble recovery. They gave it back to the Giants.

I'm a Pats' fan and even though I didn't like the out come it was a helluva game. The Giants were well prepared and played hard. Their defensive line should have got the MVP.
