Air pump is gone, no mods like N2O. Just installed a Golen 383 and can't remember where this wire came off.

I will check the starter saturday or sunday. Unfortunately the wheels are still at the paint shop and the car is jacked up so I can't take a look.

The other wire does belong to the water temp sensor of the cylinder head. I did extend it because of a bad connector.

Quote:
Does it run through a plastic wiring loom?

As far as I can see - yes, should go through the stock harness:

No sub and no alarm afaik ...

I think it does belong more to the bottom of the engine. I can't find a point in the surrounding area of the cable eye to screw it on.

After reading the Service Manual finding no pic/diagramm which does help, I have to ask the forum ...

There is one wire which I do not know where to connect to. It has no connection to ground which is why I do not want to ground this without knowing where it does belong to.

Does someone know this wire?

best wishes
Eike

Do you have this for a '91 L98? I need to get the heater core back in line. Unfortunately I did not take any pics when I removed the cooling lines a few years ago ...

Hi,

yesterday I tried to mod my bracket. I cut it and wanted to weld it to a new metal sheet. The new position is not far away from stock. But the accelerator cable is very loose (pic 2) ...

I can still get WOT (last pic) but I worry if the guidance is still given any time.

Is it possible to adjust the cable? As far as I know the accelerator pedal is not provided with an adjustment.

So I have to move the bracket (pic 3), right?

What about the TV-cable ... is a new adjustment at the transmission needed or is it OK just to use the ratchet at the bracket?

Willcox (Corvette Rubber) is my preferred brand.

Years ago Willcox posted at the other forum: "We have the CRC brand kits on the forum special price section of the web site."

So I asked if they still sell CRC, and got this response: "It's actually a sponge rubber coated in latex. It's American made except for the rear hatch. There isn't an American version of that weatherstrip. I've had no problems with this rubber lasting. The only problems I've seen is people being to rough with the removable top. That will tear both the weatherstrip and the roof panel up."

Does anybody of you know if Willcox sells still CRC stuff?

Best wishes

Disabling EGR

Hi,

my 383 is a new engine and I consider to block the EGR or not. The CR is approx. 9.5:1 due to getting a supercharger in the future. Cam specs are 214/224 duration 531/568 lift 115 LSA (the engine-builder recommended this).

So what do you guys think ... is it a good idea to block the EGR?

I found some specs for the stock cam on the internet, btw: 90-91 L98 10111773 In/Exh Dur@.050" 202/207 Lift (w/1.5) 413/428 LobSep 114.5

Hi,

as the thread of the vacuum-pipe of my fuel pressure regulator was damaged because of thin wall thickness, I decided to make a new one with much more material at the thread:

If they are not the same, waht is 30wt? I've never seen this in Germany.

No oil as sealant! ARP says use the oil/lube except at the bolts protrude into water jackets.

Thanks for welcome. The pic shows the '85 C4 of my wife - needs a lot of work. It will get the modified 350 out of my '91 and I'll go with a Golen built 383. Currently I need some advice on the head bolts and the intake gasket (post at C4 Technical).

The mods I did (big thanks to Woodstock who supported me a lot) until now are:
- lowering
- custom tuned Z51 shocks
- 2001 Z06 wheels
- C5 brake at the front with stainless pistons (as for less thermal conductivity)
- brake bias spring
- bigger sway bars
- full set of poly bushings
- new ball joints
- 3.07 Dana 44
- Racelogic Tracion Control
- Engine/Tranny oil cooler
- rebuilt TH700
- tossed frisbee
- some mods on the engine like portet heads, cam, intake
- DIY oil catch can
- Hooker headers coated by Swain Tech

Will post some pics of my 383 on C4 tech ...

Best wishes
Eike

Thanks a lot for welcome and the fast response. What exactly is 30wt oil? Manufacturer spec is 67 ft lbs. It's not a big difference to 70 but to 85 it is ... why does ARP recommend such a high torque with oil at the threads?

Is the 3M stuff equal to silicone? If so, can I use Loctite 5699 flange sealant? It's for sealing engine and tranny parts ... https://tds.us.henkel.com//NA/UT/HNAUT ... 000D81D/$File/5699-EN.pdf

Hi,

I'd like to put a Super Ram on my 383 with AFR #1038 heads and am wondering if it's OK to use the gaskets without the restrictions of the rear water ports.

What are these restrictions good for and do I really need them?

Best wishes

Hi,

I have a set of AFR #1038 ready for my 383. I'd like to use ARP head bolts and Felpro 1010 head gasket. ARP recomend using their moly assembly lube or ARP thread sealer if a bolt goeas into a water jacket. I don't have the lube nor the sealer and I can't get it fast over here in Germany. ARP recomend using 30wt motor oil if not using the moly lube.

Is 30wt equal to e.g. 5W30 motor oil?

As for the sealer would it be OK to use Loctite 542 instead? https://tds.us.henkel.com//NA/UT/HNAUT ... 0000D80E/$File/542-EN.pdf

As for the torque ARP recommend 75 ft lbs with the lube or 90 ft lbs for the oil. Using aluminum heads they recommend 5 ft lbs less of torque.

What is your recommendation using motor oil or Loctite thread sealant?

Best wishes
Eike

Hello everybody!

My name is Eike and I own a '91 Corvette which is getting a 383 right now. My friend Axel/Woodstock recommended to get on this forum as you guys have a huge technical knowledge relating to C4. I've got a notion that I can learn a lot from you ...

Best wishes from Germany
Eike
