Ok, great... why has oil and gas doubled?

I come back to my prior statements that GWB is fiddling whilst Rome burns. The dollars value, I am sure, has a lot to do with it... damned economic melt down. It's 1978 all over again.

"Fiddling?" It seems that our moronic president is purposely trying to destroy America. He's doing everything contrary to what he should be doing. Any of the pres. candidates aren't going to be any better. They're all losers. They play with their Lincoln Logs while America falls apart. Sounds about right for Congressmen.

I really don't know how I could help anyone here as my forte was in police work. I'm not too competent with the mechanical aspect, so I wouldn't be any good to you if you were stranded, but I would come and get you. I live about an hour south of Tampa, so if you're ever near my neck of the woods and need a ride, just holler. Or, if you have any police-related questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them. I was a policeman in AZ, so I could only give expertise based on that state, but for the most part, all states have close to the same laws. Just remember, I wouldn't be dispensing legal advice; only suggestions.

Without seeing the spoiler, I'm guessing that you need to go through the license plate area. Remove it, stick your arm through and you should be able to reach the bolts. I could be wrong, but that's what I would try first.

If the C4's in your neck of the woods are really that expensive, why don't you get with a buddy from the states and have him export C4's to you for dirt cheap, fix them up and sell them for a killing? Is there some import/customs things that precludes this?

I think that if you were to post 750 links, it would take you a long long time and take up a lot of room. Why not just post the ones that you think are the most beneficial. If it were me, I'd limit it to ten.

Or if it's possible, post a link that will take you to a website that hosts the 750 links.

Nice to have you here. I know you've heard this before, but no question is a dumb question. If you don't know the answer to something, there's no reason why it would be a dumb question. You would be dumb if you didn't ask it, so ask away. Plenty of people here with vast knowledge. I'm unfortunately not one of them, but I'm here cause I have a perty face and a perty car. :thumbleft:

Nice to see ya here. I'm with you Bogus - graduated in 83, but I admit I escaped from school a year early. Did the college thing from 16-20 and then joined the P.D. three days after my 21st birthday. Then as "luck" will have it, some years later, I get into a high-speed chase, have an accident and retire.

Anyway, welcome. The #'s keep growing and growing. And theirs keep getting smaller.

Here's a video of a new product on the market that will convince kids and/or adults that speeding in your neighborhood isn't cool. The dialog is in German, but you'll get the gist of it.

You couldn't be more correct. I could have simply plunked down some money and walked out with a new Vette. I took my 85 and had it transformed into something that will rival any new or old Corvette. Its power matches the new Z06's, but I think the style, the interior, exterior, motor, etc., is far better looking than anything being produced today. Not only was the motor modified, but the brakes and suspension as well. New front and rear springs from VetteBrakes were installed as well as their C4 to C5 front and rear upgrade kit, including their rotors and calipers. I had a Lakewood Blowproof bellhousing installed, because if I ever really get on it and something let's go, I'd like to keep my body parts. A dual friction Centerforce clutch was installed as well as a Tremec TKO-600 5-speed. That 4+3 had to go.

I could go on and on with what's been done to the car, but the point is that I had all this work done because I like the C4, its look, its style and when the car's done, it will handle as well, if not better than a modern Z06 and just may outrun it too. New isn't necessarily better. There is a place for the old, but improved.

I wish I could take the credit for the work, but cannot. You either very much like these kind of results or you very much do not. There's usually not much in-between. I'm the kind of guy that likes shiny, modified, go-fast parts. A stock engine, to me, is never enough. Even if I had the new Z06, I wouldn't be satisfied and would have to have it pump out more HP.

Here's a few photos of the 30-month build of my 85. I'll post more when it's completed. It should be done within a few more months.

I finally realized (duh) that you post pictures the usual way. I don't know why it took me this long to realize that.

Some of you may know that may car has been and still is undergoing a long - very long build. This December will be 30 months since the build began. The car is in its final stages and should be done within a few more months. Everything (interior, exterior, motor, tranny, etc.) has been redone. My car is not for the purists because it will be unlike any 85 on the planet. Some of you may know Chris Petris (from Corvette Fever). He is the master who has been transforming my car into a work of art. He truly is amazing. I've e-mailed some photos to Bogus over the last year or so and he's impressed, so that makes me know it's been worth it.

I have a few photos on the "Other" forum if you're curious what the car looks like, so far. I can't figure out how to post pictures here (duh).

What I'd like to know is what exactly is involved with exhibiting a car at SEMA? Who decides if you can exhibit your car there? What are the costs involved? Is the owner responsible for getting his car there? Is there a judging? When and where is it normally held? Any other worthwhile info. you can tell me about SEMA would be appreciated.

I've never been there, but have been told it's amazing.

As I said earlier, if you carry a gun, you better be damn ready to pull that trigger should the need ever arise. If you can't or think you can't, you have no business carrying. Most states have laws now that say you need to be 21 to carry a gun and I completely agree with that. Carrying a gun is such an awesome responsibility. If you don't think or are unsure if you can make a quick life and death decision in an instant, don't carry a gun.

Some of you will probably think I'm crazy, but I think that if everyone had a gun, the streets would be safer. The thugs already carry guns, whether they're allowed to or not. If the common people carried guns too, the criminals would probably think twice before committing a robbery or raping some young, skinny 95 lb. woman. If the criminals believed that the person they were about to rob or rape would pull out their gun and blow the criminal's head off, they just may think twice before committing the heinous act.

Everyone has a right to bear arms. That doesn't mean you must. No one should make fun of, or think any ill will of another just because they're exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. If you don't want to carry a gun, then don't. No one's going to think any lesser or more of you. If you want to carry a gun, then go for it. If you need a permit to carry concealed and pass all the requirements, then get one.

Would I feel safer if I carried a gun walking in a bad neighborhood? You bet your ass I would. If I was surrounded by 6 thugs who demanded my money, would I pull out my gun? You bet your ass I would. Would I pull the trigger if they advanced on me? You bet your ass I would. Would I feel bad about it? No!

I know that some of you will say I'm crazy, etc., but it's been proven that in areas that enacted carry laws, the crime rate went down. Look what's happening in England, Detroit, NYC and Australia, just to name a few. In all of these places, they have strict gun laws and the crime rate with using a gun is through the roof. If the law abiding citizens were allowed to carry guns, maybe (probably) they wouldn't be victims. There would probably be more shootings, but of the criminals. Who cares?

This is a true story. My dad went to a Home Depot (about 15 years ago) and when he parked his car, he inadvertently banged his car door into the car door beside him. Some piece of garbage exited his car, went to his trunk, removed a crowbar and walked up to my father. My dad exited his car, pulled out his gun, the bad guy dropped his crowbar and ran. Who knows what the thug would have done, had my dad not had a concealed weapon permit?

I'm not saying that guns are for everyone. They're not. But they do serve a purpose in society. My gun is like my American Express card. I NEVER leave home without it. I keep one on my person, one in the car, and have two others in the drawer of my nightstand table beside my bed.

I've seen what sociopaths in our society are capable of. I've seen people who took their own life with a gun. I pretty much have seen what most people would never have wanted to view (gunshot to the temple and face (one with a gun and another with a rifle (this one was messy), people who were badly burned in a fire, a motorcyclist (no helmet) who died because he was drunk and crashed and his brains were splattered everywhere and a whole lot more). And nothing I've seen can make me think that it's bad for the good guys to carry guns. The bad guys will always have and always will carry guns, no matter how many anti-guns laws are passed. The only result or product that will occur by enacting anti-guns laws is a society whose law-abiding people are unarmed, leaving the bad guys with all the guns. There are people running for President that want the 2nd Amendment to disappear. And if it ever does, we are in deep deep trouble.

It seems to me and please don't be offended, that you don't want to admit that your car is not what it once was when it was new. You've done all the "gimmicks" (cut lid, etc.) which can add a few HP, but that usually occurs when you do the major mods. There's no possible way that you'll be able to pump out over 300 horse without spending bucks. You'll need a good, non-restrictive exhaust, long-tube headers, cam, heads, etc. I know that you very much want to boost your power levels, but there are no quick tricks to gain that much of an increase. It can definitely be done, but you need to spend the money.

You can build crazy power with the L-98 TPI, even without forced induction or nitrous, etc. For example, my 85 pumps out about 500 horses and is 100% reliable. The way I got those levels was spending the all mighty dollar. It's now a 383 stroker, but everything under the hood and I do mean everything, is brand new. Not only is it new, it's been upgraded to the max. The MAF is now a MAP setup, the computer was replaced with a FAST setup and so on. Anything you want to do to your car can be done. You just need to open your wallet. I'm only telling you this because it seems you want to do what I did, but want to get there in a roundabout way. It cannot happen. All you'll do is make things worse. Trust me. Save your money until you can do the upgrades the correct way.

Please don't be offended by what I'm about to tell you because I am honestly trying to help. On this site, you can download a program called ieSpell. Once you download it onto your computer and run it after you're done each posting, it will check everything you've written and you won't have any more spelling errors.

I've got the 5% limo tint on the rear window and 20% on the side windows. Yes I know the side windows are against the motor vehicle code, but here in Florida, the sun's always out so I need everything I can get to keep the car cool. I'm reasonably sure that all states allow drivers to tint the rear window whatever shade is desired.

Before I retired from the P.D. and whenever I pulled someone over who happened to have windows too dark, I never issued a ticket for that. There's no way that I would be a hypocrite and give a driver a ticket for having darker windows than allowed when I'm doing just that. Any tint law is made not for the common folk, but the dirt bags. It really does make it a little safer for the officer when he/she walks up to the driver's window.

I will admit that every time I walked up to a driver's window, whether it was day or night and couldn't see into the car, I unsnapped my gun holster, kept my hand on the butt of the gun and was ready to draw if necessary. You may think I was over-reacting, but I had every intention of going home after my shift ended. As soon as the driver rolled down the window and I was able to see into the car and felt reasonably safe, I snapped the holster and went back to business. If the traffic stop was at night, my officer safety was heightened. If the stop was at night and I was able to see several figures or shadows in the car, it went up even higher.

Without a doubt, I agree with the tint law. To reiterate, the law is not there for the common folk. It's there for the dope dealing, gang-bangin' pieces of dog crap that are loose on the streets. So, if you are ever pulled over day or night, roll down your window and casually put your hands on the steering wheel. It will make the officer feel safer. Don't tightly grab the wheel or the officer may feel you're trying to hide something. You get the point.

If you have a gun in the car, there's no reason to tell him. If he asks, then be honest. The reason you don't want to volunteer that information is because he/she will take it from you and run the serial number, examine it to see if the serial number has been altered, etc. He will keep you there longer than if you had just kept your mouth shut. Your gun will be returned empty; gun in one hand and bullets or the magazine in the other. You'll need to stay wherever you are even longer when he's done with you, so you can reload it. That's why you don't volunteer the info., unless of course you want to. If you feel better about telling the officer that you have a gun in the car or on your person, then tell him. Each state has its own weapon and concealed weapon laws. You need to know what they are if you intend to own or carry a gun. And most importantly, if you think you cannot use it, then you have no business carrying it. Sorry for the off-topic, but this topic kind of transformed from the tint discussion.

If anyone has any questions about this, send me a PM. If I can help or know the answer, I will let you know. In any event, I will respond whether or not I can help.

All i can say to you mate is this, after almost 3 years on the Corvette Forum, i never once saw you make a comment id consider to be in any way unreasonable (and you probably saw me make hundreds of them!!) And further more, i reckon the question you state you asked the seller was perfectly fair, and as i always say in situations like this "F**kem if they cant take a joke"

Welcome to the forum mate

Thank you for noticing. I make every attempt to be cordial, give praise when it's due and lash out when necessary. There were a few members "over there" who needed a good ass whoopin'. And through my words, I was able to give it. I couldn't believe that in those instances, my posts weren't deleted. And in the case above regarding the cost of an item, it was. Just wanted to say hi to everyone here. Some may recognize my name from the "other", less important Forum. You know, the one that removes your postings because you dare to ask the seller why he's charging so much for an item. Bogus told me about this site, so I'm glad to be aboard.

That's great brake fluid information. I never even knew there was a 5.1 fluid. Thanks for the posting.
