Be nice if they were priced like this over here (from my standpoint). It's been converted to RHD as you can see.

I've driven a RHD car and it's not enjoyable at all for a right handed person who's very much used to LHD cars.
Price is right though huh? |

Is that how GM made them or who converts them? What is a AU dollar compared to ours. Is that like 8K over here?

I believe the dealer does the righthand drive when it arrive to the county it is delivered to. At least that's what I've heard. This car is outrageously priced. $44,999 AUD is
$39,855.61 . I guess American muscle bring big dollars overseas. That's what I came up with. http://www.xe.com/ |

Casethecorvetteman's from down under. I'm sure he could shed some light on the price. Maybe they appreciate the C4 more than we do. After all they're a dime a dozen over here, according to some people.

Casey and I have talked at length about Corvette values down under... and they are insane. That price is about right for a basic coupe. It might be low, but also, we don't know the QC of the conversion, and the nature of the economy could be causing it.
Why do you think he is buying a house? He sold his 94 Vette! A proper conversion is about $20kAUD. Yes, $20,000.00AUD. It is mandetory in Oz, there are some expections. Most are referenced to age and collectibility. The biggest change is to the Rack and Pinion; it is no longer a Corvette unit. It won't work RHD, simply doesn't fit right, so they use a Holden sourced part. I suspect that really kills the steering feel. I wish GM would engineer the Corvette to be RHD. They have a hugely untapped market in England, Oz and Japan... plus a few smaller, but wealthy, parts of Asia. The same thing goes for the full sized Tahoe/Yukon. There is a big biz of converting them over to RHD. |
