I was doing what Alvin asked.
Had a lifetime on the MAF, so I replaced it. Checked fuel pressure. Replaced and adjusted the TPS. My car still ran crappy with the chip, and good without.
Alvin authorized a return. Got the check today.

Disappointed, but glad PCMforless stood by their stuff.

I bought the chip for 2 reasons:

#1 - Turn on the fan at 215* instead of 230*
#2 - VATS defeat.

My car is stock, so I didn't expect a performance gain. I didn't expect a drivability issue! I think Mick said he doesn't know how to do the VATS defeat.

No I didn't say that....the things I don't do are:
work on "flash" type ecms (some have a soldered in socket which then makes it doable for me), and the other is re-use stock type chips. This requires those who have me do their chip/tune purchase a gp1/2 from moates and chips.

Ok, my mistake. I was going from memory, which is problematic at my age.

Did they suggest reburning another chip? With such a simple software change, it seems more likely to be a chip issue. IOW, the chip itself was bad.

I changed tuners myself and decided to give this guy a shot. I can't speak for his work yet but maybe he can help you. I think his main gig is LT1's but I'd at least shoot him an email.

You can bypass vats for the ECM by setting the flag in the bin.

If the starter enable solenoid dies, you still need to replace it or splice the wires.

Yes, go to that site. Click on the starter enable relay link. The starter enable relay is what needs bypassed. I have mine bypassed and have the vats turned off in the chip. Mine is an '89.

What year is your car? What is the 4 letter code on the factory computer chip? (mine is ARAP, yours likely is too since it is a MAF car)
