sliding Auto to manual conversion - ECM question

What are differences between auto and manual ECM?
Can auto ECM work with manual trans?
Or better to ask can it work good? Because ECM gets the
signal from the shifter switch that tells if trans is in
park or drive.

Bruno,
I did the opposite on my friends 92 Fireturd. Went from a 5 speed to an auto. He made changes to the prom only, and used the same ecm. Not sure exactly what he did though.

Close, but a friend encountered a major problem when switching over to a manual prom.
The automatic got some wiring to ensure the rear deck or rear window would only open in P or N. That wire has to be cut, in order to switch to a manual programming.
Just something to consider and look into, when you are doing the wiring for the conversion.
Engine ran fine with the original auto prom and couldn't hold an idle with the manual prom.

Not sure if a German link with pics is of any help to you? In order to see the pics, you'd have to register, though.
