Both could be power, neither could be.

However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

well i found a plug wire that was burnt to hell, and a spark plug was completely cracked all the way through. what a bitch. i replaced the tps just for the hell of it and the plugs and it is back to the way it was.. i wrapped the plug wire in electrical tape and ordered a new set. then i added a ton of fuel to the tune today and it is like a whole new car. it will actually accelerate and drive somewhat normal. i almost had a heart attack. could i be getting somewhere with it. it will probably catch fire the next time i start it up. i am swapping out my HV pump with a SV one and going to see how the bearings look on a rod and main just because i will be in there. i think i might need to throw a new distributer gear in there soon also. stupid HV pumps. wish i went with a SV from the start.

Glad you found the problem! After my reinstall I had a plug wire that melted on the header and made it run like crap, too. Luckily this wasn't too expensive of a fix for you.

Keep us posted on the dizzy gear. I have a hv pump, too, and you hear polar opposites on whether or not it affects the gear. I'll be keeping an eye on mine. I don't want to yank the motor or/and pan to replace it, but if it's an issue I might have to.

Good to see you get to the bottom of it. I use standard volume pumps on everything. More hp and less strain on parts.

What was wrong with you HV pump? Do you have a larger oil pan or no. I'm asking because I am putting a HV pump in mine for extra oiling, but I have a 8+ qt. RR Oil Pan.

i have a moroso drag pan on mine. i know the HV ate one gear already. i just caught it when i put my ported intake on and swapped it out at the time. i have just been putting the pump off ever since for money and nicer weather. but i took it off the road right around the same time so that bought me some time. i am going to buy another drive unit before i put it on the road.

don: i would suggest going with a SV pump. they are too much of a hassle with these cars and probably a new drive unit to boot just for the sake of doing it. you can't check these as easily as a SBC so its alot of out of sight out of mind. if i didn't change my drive back when i did my intake i would have a pile of rubble right now.

well i got the new standard volume pump on. everything looked ok. i ran out of time to do too much dicking around. what a pain in that ass it was to get that all on with the trans in the way.. ugh. but i got it. tomorrow i will get the new wires in. i did some more touching up to my tune and it is way way better. i am actually getting it sorted out well. i will need a dyno tune eventually but i think its close enough for the time being.
