| ITHZ | Can someone test my MAF for ME? | ||

A while back my '87 a4 vette crapped out on me with a code 33 (MAF Voltage too high).Since then I have been dumpping $$$ in my truck and now it's the vettes turn.Either the MAF is bad,or I have heard of bad ECM's causing this problems.By the FSM diagnostics it leads to a bad MAF.I want to send someone my MAF that can test it on there car and let me know its bad.I tried on the CF
 to hook up with someone local to test this(but did not work out).I really dont want to buy a new MAF if it is the ECM.  I will pay shipping both ways. |

WIll a 96 LT4 do as a test subject or does it have to be a L98 Vette from before 90-93 speed density period?

'96 LT4 will not do it.Has to be an'85-89 L98.

You would be better off, if you could find someone with an 86 or 87.
88 and 89 are somewhat different, but 85 won't work at all. One is made by Delco the other by Bosch and these have complete different values, by which they measure airflow. |

I have heard of subbing one on the car from either another Corvette, or even an F body. Maybe a friend has... I agree that there are many replaced that shouldn't but I've also seen many other steps taken (per FSM) when the problem turns out to be the MAF. They're touchy things, throwing codes when they shouldn't and not throwing codes when they should ... |

I can help you out. I am the friend of Tobijohn's that he refered to above. I just picked up an 86 A4, so I can test it out for you. PM me and I'll give you my address. May take me some time, as I have the interior pulled apart, right now. How quickly do you need it tested? Does this throw the code immediately upon start-up? If it is doing it on start-up, then I can test it quicker. If it needs to be driven to get the code to come up, then I'd need some time. BTW...I am located in South Florida. Let me know.

Crazy8 I'll tale you up on that.I'm in no big hurry either.I currently have my motor and tranny out of my truck replacing my clutch,oil pump,water pump,timing belt,front seal,and motor mounts.I'll PM you soon.And thank you.
