Looking for information on this device. Have learned about wet keys and all starting systems shutting down for 4 minutes.

Please let me know if I can arm it and how to shut it off when horn goes off.

Any info is better then what I know by accident so far.

If the horn is going off, that's not VATS, that's the "security" that is turned off by using the key in the door cylinder. Should be turned on by locking the doors.

Yep.
"Security" is turned on by locking the doors with the inside button while you're getting out and shutting the door. It's actually called the "Theft Deterrent System".

If you lock the doors with the key, it will not turn on.

If you reach thru the window and unlock the door from the inside while the system is armed, the alarm will go off.

To turn off the alarm either unlock the door with the key or put the key in the ignition and turn it to "on".

Most GM cars & trucks work the same way.

Key in ignition on won't help. Unlocking either door with the key is the only way to deactivate the alarm. If tripped, you could start the car and happily drive from coast to coast with the horns pulsing the whole way!

Ray, they may have changed that at a certain point but my 92's alarm will deactivate simply by inserting the key in the ignition, that's in the owners manual.

And my curiosity made me go down into the shop and try it.

My owner's manual was vague on what to do. Thanks.

Yes Bill, CCM cars are different. I try to keep my replys relative to the model year of the OP so the answers have some value to the OP. My reply was for cars that use a UTDS Module ('84-'89).

I picked up a spare UTDS but it turned out the problem was some ware else in the wiring. Was only $50 used. Just money.
