We just had two 4-post lifts installed - does anybody have check lists or the like for avoiding stupid things you can do to your lift and your cars if you are not thinking?

2 or 4 post?

2 post - use the factory recommended lift points on a C4,use the pucks on a C5/6. raise the car a couple inches and give it a little shake to make sure it's stable.

4 post , not much.

Some guys like to lower the lift on to the locks, but I never do.

ALWAYS look under the lift before you lower it, toolbox drawers are hard to open with a car sitting on the top.

I lower the platform onto the locks. I didn't for the first three years, but the cylinder developed a leak and I thought, maybe not relieving the pressure had something to do with it.

I also check the cables/rollers/pulleys occasionally for wear and tear.

Yea, these things will smash anything left under there.

I have a list I wrote for the lift procedure at work. It's written for a new user so probably more detail than you'd ever need, but if you want it PM me your email address and I'll send it.
