ok I am getting the 88 L98 back together. New injectors from fuel injection connection, egr delete, air pump delete, new vac hoses, plugs, wires etc.
first question. what did I do wrong here? The pulley that replaces the air pump sticks out too far and the belt is angled?? Next question is where does the vac hose to the fuel tank go from here?? It has a white vac cap and was like this when I got the car. I can't find or figure out what it connects too. next is the air pump hose on the pass side that is black and runs down the manifold. What size cap do I use? lastly. The vac hose coming off of the tb. What size hose is this?? I am guessing 8 to 10mm?? almost forgot. Cant find these on any websites yet. Clip that holds hood release cable. Where can I get these other than the dealer? |

The hood release metal clips are available from Vette2Vette.com
That hose will be standard measure, not metric, so figure 3/8". The best bet with the exhaust air injection lines is to snip them off and then get them welded shut. As for the AIR bypass? Hm... I would check the instructions and see what they say... if you don't have them, check the mfgrs website. |

The canister, on pre LT1s, is located under the left head light bucket. So the hose will have to go around the back of the engine, into the split loom, down the left frame rail and out to the canister. The thing is, there may be a hard line in the split loom, vs a rubber line. On the radiator shroud, there should be a decal that diagrams the vacuum lines. Check that for a general idea. Check the split loom at the end near the canister and see if the soft line connects to a hard line. |

k thanks. I have got the part from the canister to the end of the hard line. Problem is it ends on the drivers side tire well. So I should look for a line going around to the back of the engine?? What does it connect to back there? Is there a vent hard line that goes under the car all the way to the tank? I haven't gotten under it to check yet. I have the hvac that t's to the intake vac line and canister line.
Yes I have been following the diagram under the hood. just having a problem beyond the diagram. Sorry if I am confusing you or myself. I appreciate the help. |

I can't see the air pump delete well enough. Probably the spacers are not correctly installed.
As far as the metal air pump hose, I'm assuming the one you mean that leads to the cat? Take it off or leave it and plug it with JB weld or weld it or pinch it tight. For the gas vapor line, maybe this diagram below helps. Matthew Attach file: vacuumlineroutingee4.gif (0.00 KB) |

ok I drew a line so maybe it will help me get my meaning across. Again I apologize. The fuel tank hard line is capped directly by the drivers side tire. I can't find where it goes from there. Where is the connection towards the cab at??

I'll get a picture for you later. It runs back to the firewall and then back to the tank. I bet that's either missing or capped off at the tank.

It's says so - it goes to the fuel tank. The line goes up the tank sending area. I think it follows the brake lines, vs the fuel lines. |

Ok thanks. I will check first thing tomorrow. Car was apparently in a small front end collision so I am trying to put things back where they go. Some things are missing, some aren't even there. But is was a free car so I am not complaining.

Got some goodies in the mail today. Metal brake booster from zipcorvette and some 3/8 silicone vac hose. I am a little disappointed in the booster packing. Paint is scratched off in a few spots. Oh well I will repaint it.
Ok I have read I can just cut the plugs off of the air pump connections. Tap them up and hide them. What about the egr plug? It is obviously in bad shape and I have deleted the egr. Planning on eventually getting the ecm reprogrammed. Cut it or leave it? |

leave them. Wrap and leave.
You may encounter a time when your state laws change, and all this shit has to go back on again... and you don't want to be rewiring everything. If you get to a point where it won't matter, then trim them, but do it at the firewall, so you remove the entire harness. |
