Hi guys,

Looking for some advice on a project I'm considering. I'm trying to get my wheels on my 91 looking better. There the aluminum not polished type that are pretty dull even when clean. Watch the vid and tell me if this sounds like a bad idea. To do mine I was going to remove the center caps and do the whole wheel.

Those are unpainted wheels done with something like Alumabrite.

Looks easy on those nice FLAT wheels. And they don't show any chip repairs or things like that.

Basically a "Wheeler Dealer" video.

First you'll have to remove the clearcoat with the proper remover (for aluminum).
Then you'll have to decide how much effort you want to put into the wheels.

Duplicolor does make some nice wheel paint if you want to go the easy route.

If you want the origional aluminum look with just chip repair, it's a bigger job.

If you want to go full bore:

Or for a small fee....you can send them in and have them trued up and polished and clear coated.....probably be smarter to find someone in your area that can do the same thing.....these guys do good work though...

then again, you are spending on money on wheels no one wants!! For $200 a rim, you get brand new American Racing Torq Thrusts like mine, vs spending $100 a rim to fix...

Thanks for the input guys. I have been considering some aftermarket wheels for it. I like the original wheels except for the dull finish. Man that video made it look easy but since my wheels are painted I'm not really sure what type of finish would be left behind. Plan B might be repainting them with duplicolor wheel paint, maybe a gunmetal or something.

I think that would look good especially if you just did the center (fins & cap) and left the outside polished. My 92's rims are polished and the fins, etc are silver. Then add chrome lugnut caps.

Here's the Duplicolor Gunmetal, on my racetrailer, painted 7 years ago and sitting in the very hot sun.
The metallic doesn't show well it the pic (and they're dirty).
