I have a miss under heavy acceleration from a standing start.
I don`t think it is coming from the engine it self but from the electronics. Any suggestions? Robert |

Hi Robert,
With that issue the first thing I would look at are my plug wires. Second thing would be plugs. Third would be fuel delivery (fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors). Start with those items, assuming you're not getting any codes, of course. Luck, Rod |

Jeez Robert... don't even ask me anymore...
Plugs... I am willing to bet money they are the OEM Platinum plugs... the ACDelco platinums are junk-o-rama! They have this platinum puck welded (or something) to the ground strap. Over time, the puck wears off, falls off, burns off, who knows. When it's gone, the gap grows from .050 to .065. Can you say "misfire"? I highly recommend NGK platinum plugs. |

What is your diagnosis/repair ability and availability of tools?

No tools needed - start it in a dark place and look for arcing plug wires.
Paperclip required - check for fault codes. |

Only if that's the problem. It's good to know how far a person is willing to go or what they are capable of. Of course check the easy things first! As suggested, plug wires are the first place to start as they are easily accessible and a common cause of ignition misses. Especially if they are stock original. Run the car at night or in the garage (door partially open for ventilation) and even spray a light mist of water over the wires to check for arcing. When was the last tune up/service where things were replaced? How is the battery health? Have you checked for codes? |

Robert is a very good friend of mine...
Hence the fact I was ragging on him not asking me... Robert was the same Robert that helped me get my Vette back together. We are going to fix a few issues with his 92 and then polish it up for sale. Super clean... just needs a fan motor and a couple of other little things looked at... 49k original miles. |
