After reading the Service Manual finding no pic/diagramm which does help, I have to ask the forum ...
There is one wire which I do not know where to connect to. It has no connection to ground which is why I do not want to ground this without knowing where it does belong to. Does someone know this wire? best wishes Eike |

Without running out to look at mine...it doesn't look factory to me, almost looks like something someone ran to an aftermarket device like an alarm or sub woofer etc.

Off hand it looks like an aftermarket wire. Can you follow it down farther?

No sub and no alarm afaik ...
I think it does belong more to the bottom of the engine. I can't find a point in the surrounding area of the cable eye to screw it on. |

Does it run through a plastic wiring loom?

The other wire does belong to the water temp sensor of the cylinder head. I did extend it because of a bad connector.

Have you put a volt meter on it?

it looks to me like it's starter related... but obviously not...
It's red, and I cannot think of a single wire that is red under there. They are all black. Just have different sized ring connectors. It has marks as if it was bolted to something... hm... wait a second... your car has EGR delete... What other mods are there? I see a super ram... Anyone want to bet it could have been power for N2O? |

Air pump is gone, no mods like N2O. Just installed a Golen 383 and can't remember where this wire came off.
I will check the starter saturday or sunday. Unfortunately the wheels are still at the paint shop and the car is jacked up so I can't take a look. |

I forgot that you pulled the engine for a swap. That looks like a wire that would normally go to a starter, so I would check there.
On the other side of the motor you should have a red wire going to the alternator, make sure that didn't accidentally get put on the wrong side during the removal/reinstallation. |

that's a good idea, Matthew. I like the alternator wire a lot.
It's the only red one, and it looks to be the right size. |

Thanks to all of you for helping! Knowing where to look makes stuff quite simply ...
In fact the wire does belong to the starter. As the oil pan is bigger than stock, I did not see the empty stud. Today I had some time to work on the car again. I found this pic in the service manual, but no orange wire at the car. As a few pages forward there is a pic without the orange wire, I decided to ignore it. The stud whre the purple wire does belong to: |
