Guys don't forget if you have aftermarket camshaft.... the engine WILL NOT want to idle really low like 400-500RPM.

I went thru this with Nolands 91 with the 383 Super Ram and it had an LPE (Erson) 219 camshaft.

Base idle had to be set at 750RPM and in the tune commanded idle set to 850RPM. This worked really well for everyday driving in his 91.

Even a very small overlap change in the camshaft will cause the need for increased idle base speed.... if you don't then the IAC will be working it's butt off to keep the engine from going dead in gear or when coasting down, epsc when using the defroster or AC.

The more cam you have the worse this problem can be....

Waiting for battery to charge up. Base idle set at 650.
TPS I think is at .57. Having trouble for some reason reading volts. I get now is ohm 10meg dcv This is the correct one correct??

And for a laugh to all of you I was hearing a sound like a loose lifter at rough idle. when engine smoothed out no sound.
Tool in picture was vibrating on metal and windshield.

Well idles awesome . Base at 650. TPS at .57.
Would tps be best to increase first. Trying to get the right combo? Any suggestions??

Now that it is warmed up have a minor leak on runner on drivers side I will fix before I worry about the other settings. Have to remove the valve cover. PITB have to loosen several things in order to get it free

Might try driving it for awhile, make adjustments as needed.

The following info was found some time ago, never had a need to try it perhaps a forum Guru will comment.

RESET BLM'S

Open the hood on your Corvette after the engine has sat overnight or fully cooled off.
Then turn the headlights on.
Unhook the Negative or positive battery cable for 5 minutes.
Reconnect the battery cable.
Shut the headlights off.
Then without touching the gas,
start you car.
Let it idle till the engine is fully warmed up & the main cooling fan kicks on & cycles off.
Then shut the engine off.
Restart your Corvette.
Go for a 10 minute ride in town & on the highway.
You have just reset all BLM tables.

You are correct used it on aother vehicle the reason after the batter is disconnected is to drain any residual voltage from the ECM.

Just finished torqueing down drivers side runners again for minor leaks. One by firewall a pain . Have to pick up another ball end to put on torque wrench in morning. Some harbor freight stuff is crap.

I didn't post a picture for others to see how you must loosen rocker arm to tighten lower runner bolts on drivers side.

I have found the more times I do this I find more short cuts that make it easier. Ben interesting challenge.

Well we were backing out the driveway and pop. The bracket that hold the smog alternator brock. This is the second time I have had this problem. I found a used one on ebay I installed two years ago. I will be putting the one we welded up but I don't trust it. I will be looking for another.
And no did not over tighten

Would feel better if I could take blame

had been replaced by mechanic in shop I guess lost original bolt.
bolt on bracket that broke was too short

I was just texted and told to get ready to go to movies. Boy toys can take a rest for now she said.

idles great. It feel like in the old days like timing.

but I am not sure if it is that or throttle or base idle adjustments.

Any suggestions

it started up first thing. no time to drive it school starts tomorrow.
The more it runs the more it learns and smooth's out on idle.is this what takes place. if I have time tomorrow I will give this a try.

I hate those potmetal brackets... the AC compressor bracket is equally flawed.

Let me dig, cause I may have one, too.

Well this didn't work. It idles fantastic now . Fires right up. Now power on takeoff and under drive. Does not stall out totally. The shop will put it on the dyno and see if they can find the problem. It is nice having friends with an automotive shop

On the way to work this morning I hit a Christmas tree and a box of trash on the hwy . Dents in my 2013 GMC. If I don't get vet running by Wednesday I will have to drop vet off at my friends shop.
My truck goes in for repairs in body shop wensday

Has the ignition timing ever been checked?

Unplug the single black weather pack wire connector for the tan/black stripe wire located @ the top of the brake booster, set timing @ 6 degrees, plug the connector together.

This is going to sound dumb but stranger things have happened. Is the emergency brake completely disengaged?
On mine if I do not hold the button in until the lever is all the way down on the floor the E brake is still applied.

One thing for sure you certainly have patience. If this were my job I probably would have torched the sucker by now.

Good luck.

That wire actually splits out of a large harness just below the brake booster and towards the valve cover. It's not going to be a long loose wire all alone.
Here's another picture that might help if the link works.

Doing more digging. Looks like a plug down deep but it looks like there are 2 wires coming out of it. Trying to find where I put my flash light.

Looks like one of those crimp on male/female connectors. Not my first choice but might do the job. I would recheck all the wiring. Did you get all of the injector plugs put back on securely? All sensors hooked up?

Just curious, where is the location of that single wire in your first picture?
That wire almost looks like the EST wire. Looks to be light brown/tan with a black stripe?

Have you replaced the cats? Could be a clogged cat, or could be dumping a ton of fuel are two thoughts.

All the Cats are new.

Joel the wire is in the location where the pictures show it should be. Had a fire a few years ago I had a shop that went through the wiring to fix the burned wires. It looks like he did a crappy job. The mechanic was fired for stealing parts. Lots of the parts were mine. Have day off calling AAA will take to shop and if there is room will see what a second set of eyes can find.

Will be a couple hours before I can go

Joel the guys at the shop confirmed that was the wire the plug melted during the fire.
I told basically every thin I tried. They had the secetary drive me to breakfast and they took me home. Banned from shop while 5 others are already impressed with the super ram.

Well thanks for everybody's help.
Final solution was a Brocken wire on passengers side that at times would short out the injectors. Driving on 4 not 8.
The power now is awesome. More than enough to get me into trouble.
I love this site. I know about carburetors' but ditty about fuel injections. Been a great learning curve.

Also passed Ca smog

I will be at bone yard picking up a EST plug. I know a transam that has lots of good parts

The power is great

Glad you found the problem. The cats glowing pointed to a fuel issue and overall it seemed electrical related. You will love the SR over the tpi, I promise.

Congrats!

Thanks Matatk
Thanks for all the help.
I will be hitting the bone yard digging up another EST plug. May switch out my old throttle body or rebuild this one. Looks like it is having minor issues for now.

Already impressed. Really throws you back in the seat.

There are some companies on ebay that do a tb rebuild service and bore it out to 50 or 52 mm at the same time. Not that you need the extra airflow in the tb, but it's part of the service.

CFM flow numbers here:

http://www.gmtuners.com/flow/index.htm

48mm TB flows 780cfm, IMHO this is plenty for a street driven car with a 350 cu in engine. Increasing TB CFM moves the power band up the rpm scale & lessens off idle/low rpm throttle response unless the car has a stall converter &/or
rear gears of 3.50 & higher.

Just my opinion, your car your call.

What is the difference on my 383 stroker?
my 48mm is very worn. I assumed the 52mm would not be much of a change and main reason is to smooth out idle. Price is about the same.

was not aware of your 383 configuration, my bad.

If figured using a percentage scale an increase to a 52mm TB from a 48mm is basically the same increase percentage wise as a cu in increase from 350 to 383 = good to go.
