When I recently had the rear up in the air to change the shocks and lowering kit I found a little play. Grabbing the wheels at top and bottom I got a little movement and even heard, or felt a small 'clunk'. Doing the same at the 3 and 9 o'clock I got absolutely no movement. Tire wear is great, no 'clunk' in going in or out of gear. I work alone, so no way to shake and look underneath at the sametime. Nor have I had time to look anything up in my FSM.
Any ideas what is going on under there would be appreciated? |

Movement at the 12 and 6 position would indicate wheel bearnings. There should be no play. Also check the u joints.

I'd agree with the Wheel Bearing diagnoses.

IF IT IS WHEEL BEARINGS U SHOULD HAVE MOVEMENT ALL AROUND THE "CLOCK" IF IT THERE IS MOVEMENT AT 12 & 6 AND THERE IS NO MOVEMENT AT 3 & 9 THEN YOU MIGHT CHECK THE BUSHINGS IN YOUR REAR WHEEL SPINDLE ROD...JUST A THOUGHT

Thanks, Since there is absolutely no play in the 3-9 o'clock area, and no bearing noise I did rule out the wheel bearings. I will have to get a 'picture' of how it is put together down there to see how the spindle rod bushings are mounted. Thanks Again.
