Local AZ, finally stopped stocking my size in M1 and K&N, and Purolator. Down to either Fram or delco garbage, or a tiny can from other brands.

I almost picked up a Shell Rotella filter, medium can RT45, but didn't have time to research it,although it seems to be Purolator made.

So sad. I honestly haven't opened up one of the silver Frams yet, but until I do, the brand as a whole will remain on my shit list. Sigh. And the counter jockey telling me I can't run diesel oil in my corvette parked out front, while I bite my lip. I dont feel like driving across town to Napa for a Wix either. I used to run M1-301 but they are too tall for comfort now that I put the stock oil cooler sandwich back on.

So you think M1 is the best?

I liked the large can and internal construction and filter area, but there are other large cans I haven't tried. I can only go about 5" tall safely on the Z51 oil cooler, the M1-302 is almostt 5.75"

I am running a Hastings now and ordered a Purolator pure one, wix (non racing), and a K&N. This time when I cut them open I'll take measurements. I stayed away from the wix racing because it has a much worse micron rating, which I guess makes sense for a race motor where flow filtration probably takes a back seat to flow rate.

What I haven't determined is if in fact there's no use for a anti drainback valve on the 350. Yes it's mounted pointing up, but if it holds oil above it, I could still see a benefit. Hard to say as I don't know how the oil passages go.

I also have a silver Fram laying around to try. Sad thing is I still see people recommending Delco. I guess they must've changed sources and most don't know it yet.

I have been using the recommended filter from Cheby on my LS3 but I should probably consider something else.......

What p/n? AC delco can change mfr's at any time. Different part numbers may have different sources. And they will discontinue/supersede a low demand part if they can replace it with another similar one. Their oil filter p/n for the L98 is pure junk now.

Isn't the K&N filter the 2002? If so, that is common on trucks until 1999... Also, the 3002 is the same, but longer.

Each brand has its own numbering scheme... the number I quoted for K&N is specific to K&N.

I fully admit that I buy my oil and filters at Wal-Mart because of the price but... it's pretty shocking how cheaply most of the AC Delco and Fram filters are built...

The Purolator Classic filters they sell seem still to be of quality construction.

I just went thru this last weekend when I changed the oil in my 92. The AC PF52E that fits the 92 is a scary looking POS. I ended up buying a Purolator for it.

I order/buy 6 Wix 51069's from Amazon in April for the race car. That gets me thru an entire season of racing. Looks like I'm going to have to order more of them now for the 72 because it took a hot min to find an equivalent filter at WM when I changed the oil in it week before last and they only had one (a Fram TG). I needed a filter and didn't want to go to 2 places but I won't buy another one.

They do carry the correct MOPAR brand that fits the wife's Jeep and it looks like a quality filter (same construction as the Purolator) so I use them.

As for not running Diesel oil.... LOL. Yes there is "better oil" out there.... but not a $11.25 a gallon, which is what I pay for Mobil Delvac 15W40. Been working great in my bike, the wifes bike, the 92, 79 and 72.

I was running Delvac or Rotella in the race car for a long time but recently switched to 15W50 Mobil 1 after I had a rocker gall a roller tip... turned out to be something else causing the problem but I had already stocked up on the M1 when it was on sale.

I do run Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synpower 5W20 in the Jeep but that's because of the MDS and deactivated hyd lifter system the Hemi's have... plus I can get 5,000 mile O/C interval easily. I run Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synpower 5W30 in the new Z71 for the extended O/C interval.

Wix 51069 or 51069R?

Yeah the HP-2002 is a good one. I'm guessing the new vettes use a metric filter, probably completely different.

I have a few Toyotas in the fleet which I order OEM filters for in bulk as well. And the motorcycle, although I just found some "car" filters for it that are recommended, but surprisingly the stock honda filter and K&N are not. Go figure.

I just spent $100 on oil filters at amazon, lol. I'll pick up a Rotella filter next time I'm at autozone too. Website says their good for 20 microns.

I was going to switch away from the diesel oil due to supposed detergents in there eating my oil deposits and causing leaks, but I reconsidered for some reason I can't remember. Its supposed to handle the oil contamination better and has good sheer strength for the price. And I like the thicker hot viscosity.

I run the regular 51069 on the race car. I'd rather have the better filtration.
