Of COURSE there Joeld - my garage is open!!! Problem didn't manifest last Fall, with mild weather...

No problem - I got LOTS to read. I DON'T imagine this is VERY MUCH plug n play.

Was kinda' hopin' a few tips / screenshots be posted by now... anyone?

Matt - any chance you could get MT-2500 / Snap-On / bi-directional comm's into the title somehow? Or just change it entirely? Thanks there...

I have a feeling that this will be a lengthy thread, with as much detail that I can write into it here...

I see one picture that you uploaded to the gallery. Not sure if there were supposed to be more? If so, they were probably over the 1000k limit.

they are surprisingly plug and play.

the manual will guide you through which cable and which cards need to be in the brain unit.

From there, it's follow the prompts.

I plugged, and played. ZERO Progress so far.

I selected BODY / CODES AND DATA and the following showed:

(I've never had the 'VATS' failure (fail to start the motor) - no clue what that's about...

It appears as tho' MT 2500 will not activate a Bus Circuit for the vette.

Maybe it will do something with my '98 GMC A/C Module.

Matt - you can wipe this thread if you want here..............

I'll leave it just for future reference.

Also, code 54 should be a low fuel pump voltage code, not really VATS related.

I spent about 3 hours in the manual last night - no text about Bus Circuits' or ANYTHING in CCM Field. If there's a cartridge that enables some other functions (might well be), it's not in the manual at all.

One of the OBD II adapters does have a port for 'personality' keys; might be same for OBD I. Snap On tech support was NO help for 'unsupported devices.

The H 54 VATS Fuel Enable connects to CCM @ CCM Connector GD3. Even tho' this has NEVER manifested a problem, it might be a clue, because H 74 Circuit LED Dimmer connects to CCM @ GD2.

Taking it back to CCM thread on this; getting close...

oooh... I see... yea... I don't think, in fact I am rather sure of this, that the C4 does NOT have any bus circuits to activate.

There are a few circuits that the CCM can manipulate, but they are not "bus" circuits as the modern cars have.

A modern bus circuit is what we call "multiplexed."

This means one wire is carrying many signals at the same time, in different frequency loops. Think cable TV.

That stuff didn't exist for cars back in the 90s...

One of the blower failure flow charts says to plug in a tech 1 with E & C Bus Control capability, to activate that bus circuit.

Courtesy lights turn off post 60 seconds by DAB - delayed accesory bus, which occasionally fails - so I think there are some bus circuits...

I'll take your word for that Andy; trying to get a crash primer on communication here.

We'll presume then, that it does NOT have CAN Bus Circuits...

Would that mean that they could NOT be energized / activated by an EXTERNAL controller? (never mind that FSM says they can - I wanna' know the ramification).

From Wiki:
A controller area network (CAN bus) is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other in applications without a host computer.

So if '90's Bus Circuits are NOT

...

?

I need more info here.

They might be a bus... but not a CAN bus... those are newer...

I didn't get a chance to hit the books last night, but will tonight...

OBDII cars would need the OBDII interface and the personality chip.

I will continue my research tonight... what is interesting is that my old copy of EASE does a nice job of reaching into the CCM via the ECM (1992).

I am wondering what needs to be done to get this unit to do the same? That's where I got sleepy after a long-assed 12 hour work day...

Find anything Andy?

I bet there is a cartridge that will enable Bus Circuit activation. Or a programmable cartridge, such as one so-labeled that came with the kit...
