cor123 has all the information here, but the basics are 10:40 AM to 10:40 PM, with coverage beginning on FoxSportsGo/IMSA.com and moving to FoxSports1 at 12:30 PM. Live timing is at http://scoring.imsa.com/ As usual I'll be hunkered down for the duration. There will be a pause in my coverage in the late afternoon when we go to my Corvette-crazy goddaughter's fifth birthday party. |

Green flag! A relatively clean start so far and then the #55 Mazda cuts down a tire. After about 20 minutes: Prototype: Oreca #13, Cadillac #5, Cadillac #31 Prototype Challenge: Oreca #26, Oreca #38, Oreca #8 GT Le Mans: Ford #66, Corvette #3, Porsche #912 (Corvette #4 9th in class after a ride height violation in qualifyingg) GT Daytona: Audi #29, Lamborghini #16, Lexus #14 The normal live timing link isn't working, but this seems to be: |

#67 Ford had trouble getting started and is 33rd overall. In a good sign, the Corvette Corral is sold out. All 46 cars that started are running. I forgot to mention Andy Blackmore's excellent spotters guide, which is here: http://www.spotterguides.com/portfolio/17_imsa/ Also, http://scoring.imsa.com/ is back up. |

I have returned. Fox Sports 1 just did a short but nice tribute to the amazing John Surtees, who, among many other things, won the 1963 12 Hours of Sebring in a Ferrari 250SP. With about 3 hours and 30 minutes remaining, as the sun goes down: Prototype—now Cadillac #10, Cadillac #5, Oreca #85 Prototype Challenge—still Oreca #38 (5th overall), Oreca #8, Oreca #26 GT Le Mans—now Porsche #911 (7th overall), Ford #66, Ford #68 (Corvette #3 is 6th in class) GT Daytona—now Mercedes #33 (16th overall), Ferrari #63, Lamborghini #48 |

The #911 Porsche GT LeMans car has despatched easily with the two leading Fords and is closing on the #3 Corvette. 40 minutes to go. At this point, I think Garcia will do well to finish on the podium. |

Changes in the last five minutes: 1) The #67 Ford spun—I'm unsure whether it was assistance or not. This allowed the #63 Ferrari to make the GT Le Mans podium. 2) The #16 Lamborghini went off course for some reason, allowing Mercedes to get 1st and 3rd on the GT Daytona podium. |

Antonio Garcia drove amazingly well. Folks who know about these things are already saying it may be his most impressive work. In the last ten minutes, with everything on the line, he just pulled away from the Fords and the Ferrari. This also marks the second straight win for Wayne Taylor's Cadillac team in Prototype. |

Just got back from the track... a few first hand observations:
* The weather was PERFECT. A bit chilly in the morning, down into the upper 40s... But it warmed up into the low 80s with crystal clear skies. * The Corral was PACKED. 225 Corvettes, one Cadillac SUV and a Camry... The Camry was towed. So was the Caddy. * The Corral attendance was super, the rest? Not so much. The Porsche Platz was packed. In general, there were more race fans... vs the casual fan. Then again, there were no vintage events this year, nor as many support events - no Star Mazda or things of that nature. Without those classes, there was a lot more space in the north paddock. I also noticed that all the race teams were in the same area at the back of the paddock along Ullman Straight. There were also more designated parking lots in the paddock. * Cell service out at the track is crap. It sucks. Too many people, not enough circuits!! I will post some pics later. I have to finish processing them and then I will add some. I have some on my facebook page already. |
