I've got a buddy that has a 1969 Corvette that has a Factory Am/FM Radio with a built in CB.He's looking to find a new Antenna for it. Has to be a Power AM/FM Radio WITH CB. Appreciate your help!
Secondly, my Power Steering gets hard to turn only when going to the right. If I bump it left first then turn in right it works. I have bled this thing 3-4 times. Appreciate your help. |

I had a very good friend and Corvette mechanic tell me to suck out all the fluid in the reservoir and use Lucas power steering fluid to refill. Then jack up the front end and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times.

Frank, what are the condition of the components of the steering rack and suspension? I'm wondering if something is worn out and sticking/binding, and when you turn it left first it frees up.

Haven't looked closely yet but like you I thinks it's probably a sticky valve.
Thanks for your input! |

My next step is to change out the fluid (as you suggested). Any recommendations as to the best fluid?

It also sounds like a problem internal to the rack... meaning, turning right it's not boosted, turning left it is. There is a valve gang in the rack that routes the fluid, if that isn't right, the rack won't work right.
As for the antenna, there is guy in Ohio that specialized in old radios for Corvettes. First off, that cannot be a 1969, try 1979. The option started in 1978... CB radios didn't exist until the FCC made usage easy and trimmed back licensing requirements, that was in about 1974 or so. He may have a 1969 car, but the radio is 10 years newer. Now... my research has indicated that the power version is discontinued. I found this... depending on the problem, a new mast might fix it... http://www.antennamastsrus.com/GM/Che ... /Corvette%201979-1982.htm some good pics and instructions: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c ... -does-anyone-rebuild.html Short of an NOS part, or someone with a used one, good luck, I suspect. |

Frank I just used prestone with my new rack because it was on sale. The older cars don't seem to be as sensitive as the new ones.
