Jimmy Johnson after the race "FUK!" (Heard it over his team radio)

NEWS:
JOLIET, Ill. (AP)—NASCAR’s BAM Racing team has presented Barack Obama’s presidential campaign with a potential sponsorship deal in the Sprint Cup series later this year, but it doesn’t look like an Obama car will be burning rubber on the track anytime soon.

BAM team spokesman Rhett Vandiver told The Associated Press on Friday that the team made a sponsorship proposal to the Democratic presidential hopeful’s campaign, and has made similar proposals to the campaign of Republican John McCain and at least one third-party candidate.

I liked the way that JJ did to Kyle what Kyle did to Gordon last week. A slow restart. Did'nt have the same impact though.

Well, you've got 3 choices here that you have to pick at least 2 or all 3.

Prize for first half winner - done
Prize for 2nd half winner ?
Prize for overall season winner ?

Livin this is a quote from you early in the season....

"so whatever became of the friendly wager?
how bout 3 payouts
1/2 season places 1,2,3
2nd half season places 1,23
and overall 1,2,3
for 1/2 seasons 1st=30
2nd=20
3rd=10
for whole season
1st=60
2nd=40
3rd= 20
The way I see it a 9 races max per driver this would provide a good chance for everyone to win? and at the original 20 "

Everyone agreed on it it seemed......I thought we were having three payouts.

Am I wrong here?

2nd and 3rd place? Screw that.

A winner better get more than $30 on a $20 bet. Just pay out 1/3 of the pool for each winner, 1st half, 2nd half, and overall. The overall winner will probably take home two of those chunks.

Everyone can't and shouldn't win anything. All 2nd place deserves is to go home and cry in their pillow. Especially with only 8 people. Now 2nd place out of 100, may be deserving of something.

Next time I think I'll wait until the end of the season to decide if I want to buy in or not.

I hope you guys don't see me as being a whiner like Gordon hehe...

But I thought that was what we were doing and I finished off Kyle Busch(9th race) on the last race of the season to help get a surge to keep me up front.

To me it doesn't make since to award just the 2nd half winner and overall winner when someone used up most of their good drivers during the first half. It should have been made very clear that was how it was going to be scored.

as far as the 2nd half season winner - that was the point once people used up drivers in the first half it would make the 2nd better. even more so as we all learned the ropes but I go along with whatever everyone comes up with

Which helps you towards winning the 1st half prize, or the overall prize.

It sounds like everyone agrees there's 3 winners either way, 1st half, 2nd half, and overall.

I guess the next question is does 2nd,3rd place deserve squat? Or should everyone get trophys, like we did in tee-ball?

JR, how much money is in the pot, how many haven't paid, and what is to become of those entries, even the ones that gave up? You paid twice right?

If everyone agreed in the beginning with what Livin came up with, then I believe we need to stick with that. Next time, we just need to be very clear on how it will be handled!

There was no agreement at the beginning really, beyond 1st and 2nd half payouts, but I'm all ears.

I just think the 2nd and 3rd place thing is dumb on a small pool like this, even if I have a better chance of winning money that way. It makes for a small/unrewarding payout to the winner.

It should be decided quickly before more points accrue, and obviously the 1,2,3 finishers from the first half are going to be a little biased.

I run a football pool at work every year and some people whine about payouts for 2nd, 3rd, etc, but the winner take all playoff pool really gets people's attention. Last year it was $400. 2nd place gets to watch the 1st place guy count their money.

Sorry for the confusion, MY bad. CC had to hit me with a hammer and I saw the light. I didn't see the big picture until I hit the the first half and second half buttons.

So as we originally agreed. Agreed!

Brut, Gotcha! It was tough enough connecting real names with C4 handles for those I don't know. Then to add another level of confusion was the "team names"

First half season places 1,2,3
Second half season places 1,2,3
Final overall 1,2,3

1/2 seasons
1st=30
2nd=20
3rd=10
Final season
1st=60
2nd=40
3rd=20

The way I originally figured it;
1st & 2nd halves 60+60=120
Final 120
Total 240
-We needed 12 players @ 20 each

So the numbers have changed slightly with only 8 players checking in. In this case I suggest that to be fair to all that are currently in play, lets fore go the final and only play the 1st & 2nd halves.

1st 35
2nd 25
3rd 15
4th 5

I got my flame proofs on, so comment away!
