Have you changed all of your rubber lines and seals to be E85 compliant? (Most cars from the 90s and newer are already ethanol ready) Do you have a new computer to adjust for it? That's the biggest thing - the sensors and computer to know how to adjust for the difference in fuel. The older cars can be brought into compliance with the requirements, but probably not worth it. So, in short, no.

The benefit on newer cars with high HP builds is that there is less detonation and they can advance the timing...a lot.

my car is a 96. i have a few pcm's for it and the ability to tune them. my static compression ratio is 12.3:1. if its safer to run that then i have no issues in making it work.

I don't want to portray myself to know more about E85 than I do. I wish I could help you more in depth, but there are some experts out there. Perhaps you can find some more info on a web search.

Take a look at www.flexfuelus.com they say that they can get you going with the stuff they sell. I always heard it took a stainless tank and lines to handle the corrosive nature of the product. Leno likes it and talks about it on his garage site.

I am running it in my Tahoe which is made for it and went from an overall 14.5 fuel avg. to about 12.5 avg. It cost me 2.14 vrs. 2.67 for E10 downtown.

I've wondered myself if a benefit could be had in my engine (high compression also), but it isn't readily available around here so I never pursued it.

since it's a '96 with the crank sensor, you might be able to get it to run on the newer FlexFuel computers.

though you'd have to piggy back in the old ECU to keep the dash working.

you can get it to run E85

If you want the option of running EITHER gas of E85 the later ones will help.
