Well finally checked what the vibe wad in my front end. Turns out all 4 of my tie rods are worn. I ordered some new ones from Rockauto and they should be here shortly.
My question is what is the best way to replace them all? One side at a time? or jack up the K-member in the middle and just have at it on both sides? The car will go for alignment after which it has needed for a good 3 months but I wanted to make sure the front steering was up to par before hand. |

Jack the K, might as well have the whole front end on jackstands (saves a bit of time).
Do rough measurement, center of the tierod end to where it screws in, or count the turns (provided the threaded part of the new rod is the same length as the old). That will get you close in alignment. Antisieze the new threads. Don't drive very much until you get the alignment. |

Thanks. They will be here friday.
I will only drive it once, straight to the alignment machine. Thanks Bill. This is the only part of the front end I have never messed with replacing on any car, only adjusted it on my firebird. |

You can also do an initial toe setting with a measuring tape and 2 pieces of plywood or steel plates.
You could use something like 3/8ths plywood 6-8 in wide and a few inches longer than the tire diameter. Lay them up tight against the tires (off any raised lettering) and measure the front and back. The measurements must be taken at the same distance from the centerline of the wheel to the back and to the front. The front measurement should be 1/8th to 1/4 inch shorter (front toed in). It's a very rough way to do it but better than nothing. |

Thats the way we did it when I installed my Banski rear end parts. Then I wiggled the tire and it shift about 1-1.5 inches so I stopped adjusting until I could get the money for the parts.
Im taking it to a friend who works at a stealership for a 4 wheel laser alignment. Their new machine is a month old so should be good to go |

be sure he knows how to adjust those custom links, and has the correct socket, inverse torx for the omegas.
