It was actually pretty good. They are depending that most American's don't know jack about the lay of Honolulu...

For example, Ford Island goes no where... and the float bridge does not get you to the docs... well, unless you are on Ford Island, but it is still a long way to the docks! Oh, and the float bridge isn't 3 miles long.

Otherwise, not bad... not bad at all.

Where is it being produced from? Is it shot in Hollywood with scenes of Hawaii? It's always tough to do a remake. You have to adjust to the cast of characters. I'll check it out ...... sometime. I'll miss Kam Fong as Chin Ho.

For a new show, it was pretty good.
I'll watch it again. My usual fare is TCM and Speed.
My complaint is the rapid fire film editing.
Just the way they do it today, I guess.

Missed It! Watched Football and fell asleep. I heard this morning from my students that McGarrett is a Navy SEAL on the show. Cool!

i watched it. Should have told the LCDR to shave when in uniform, especially in front of the Missouri.
There were allot of shots just to fill it out, like the bridge to Ford Island.
But, it was entertainment, no NCIS.
I have it set to record, and will see how the second and third episode go. Hawaii news was all over it though.
The female governor wasnt nearly as ugly as the real governor, I guess Hollywood has its standards and didnt want to portray Lingle to well.

as you said, the bridge to Ford Island now has ppl thinking there is this highway with a big bridge on it somewhere, and there isn't!

The first pic is bastet44 and her mom and the aforementioned floating bridge in the background.

The next pic is some dude... CPO Sharky.... Stevy... I donno...

Nothing new on the shooting location. In just about any show that takes place in Miami these days they use Lobg Beach as the backdrop (I'm sure Bogus knows that one, too). CSI, Burn Notice, etc. all use the Long Beach skyline for thier intros and transitions.

What's more important is that you all watch Detroit 187 tonight. I can tell you how they used Hawaii for the local locations in that show, too...

CSI Miami for sure. That's LB... They aren't even subtle about it... Burn Notice? I am not so sure... If they use LB, it's really well disguised.

I was always under the impression that BN was filmed in Miami. I read the filming locations in the LA Times, and I haven't seen any references to BN...

Burn Notice has a production studio in Coconut Grove. They film most of it locally.

Just watched Haw 50 on fancast.com. Seemed like an OK remake. Totally agree with Steve on the shaving issue! did you notice the ribbons on a poorly fitting uniform, for a LCDR he only has 3 and one looks like a good conduct. Fight scene on ships deck was nonsense, you don't talk you just shoot and move on. Did you notice the bullets never over penetrate? I should be a critic!
Detroit 18 something seems interesting!

Ever count the rounds out of pistol with 15 round magazine?
They never reload! I did see McGarrett reload however. I laughted when Dano takes a shotgun blast to the drivers side door window and gets out of the car and runs after the bad guy. His face should have looked like pizza with definite brain splatter!

He only needs to wear three ribbons, technically. But I need to look again to see what he has. Not all people where what they have been actually given in some groups, as it does draw attention to who they are. Then again, that big ol Trident speaks volumes.
He actually has a Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action ribbon, and Expert rifle/Pistol on his chest.

Were you a Frog?
And with that uniform, you should wear at least one row.

Not Hush Hush, per sey for my job. I did a boomer for 3 years, old Ben Franklin class and have been on three Fast boats, 2 in pearl, and one on east coast.
I did serve with the Teams for support. It was the best experience I had in the Navy. Simply the best place I worked in 20 years.

There are some really good memories, still close to my old TEAM,we are all about 61 now,at 20 we didn't give a crap. Honestly the German Sherpards on base where treated better than us. Sub guys were good to us.

One of the Sub Capt. coined the term "pucker factor" when he saw SEALs coming on board the pucker factor went up. At 10 he could suck the chair he was seating on up his ass.
