Ok, one of the many things on my list for the old '77 is to swap out the automatic for a manual, unique, i know. one thing i'm thinking about is having the room to operate the clutch. i'm 6'4" and worried/curious about if i'll hit the steering wheel with my knee all the time. any other tall folks out there with a manual trans that can provide insight?

you should be able to emulate the effect. Put your left foot on the far left of the brake pedal and see how it goes.

That should give you an idea...

Im 6'3 and remember my left knee being stuck in one position between the door panel and the wheel theres no room in those. In fact the elbow and head were friendly with the door parnels and window too.
Put a smaller wheel on and you may be Ok.
Got tilt?

I don't know about the C3 seating configuration, but I've had that issue in some other cars. Mostly smaller Japanese ones like an RX-7. I did not have that issue in my C4.

If you're not worried about keeping it stock, you can always get a smaller aftermarket steering wheel.

I'm 6'4" also.

I am 6' tall and I drive a 1968 C3 Convertible with stock seats. I drive with my seat all the way back, and I fit. However, I find the foot well to be very cramped in a C3. For example, I have to actually keep in mind what footwear I am wearing. I cannot wear flip flops in the summer because they'll get caught in the wiring underneath the dash when I push on the pedals. Kind of a weird problem, but there you go.

I do have an aftermarket Grant steering wheel though. It's smaller in diameter than the original, and that does help. You should consider that if you're better than 6' tall. They also look a lot nicer. Mine is mahogany with polished aluminum spokes and it's gorgeous in my dark orange interior.
