Does anywhere here have a supercharger setup? Turbo?
Do most people run a centrifugal or roots style setup? Pics? I was thinking about a roots style setup when whenever I got some cash saved up. |

Seems plenty like the Vortech setup. Big power gains to be had for the $$.
I like the Roots type blower better cause Im old school but as far as functioning I think the belt driven setups are better. Im no F.I. expert thought, Im just foaming at the mouth. |

I think you have enough shortblock, too... just be sure that everything is forged.

A D44 wouldn't hurt either.
I've thought about this as well but when I think about the expense of not only the supercharger setup but strengthening my drive train as well my mind starts to wander to other less expensive things... |

A D44 wouldn't hurt either. Well, I know the guy that had this car before me had tons of work done to it. The trans was beefed up to at least hold the 460 something it's suppose to be putting to the wheels right now, and all the internals are forged titanium (or maybe I just made that up?) but I know for sure it's all race prepped inside. |

You will also have to lower the compression ratio of the engine to run any kind of serious boost. If you have a 383 with 460+ RWHP and it's a N/A engine you may find you need to lower your compression ratio a bit.

What is the compression ratio?? If you use a decent sort of intercooler it might offset it, but then it depends on how how it is to start with eh.

Well, I doubt it's forged titanium, that would be seriously expensive, but the connecting rods could be titanium.
If the compression is abotu 10:1, I am pretty sure you can use a low boost blower, somewhere about 6psi. No more, for sure. I would want to intercool it, too. Expect something like that to add ~150hp. It would be insane. |

I'm doing a blower upgrade myself.
I'll be using a Vortec, a lot easier to install then a roots. Fits under the stock hood and is more efficient. It's also emissions certified. Roots too look bada$$ though With the roots you need a taller hood, that's not to bad an problem. The trouble is the drive in the front, or more specifically, the frame interfering with it. But it can be done. Keep in mind that most roots want the fuel flowing through them to keep the blower cool and lubricated. So either the fuel injection or the carb needs to be on the intact side. Magnachargers are setup so the injectors can be underneath. Which you'll appreciate if you ever have a backfire. |
