Over at e-cigarette-forum.com, they have an area at the top of the page for announcements, such as the 3 that are up at the top of the Guru site. In their implementation (not sure what software they're running), those messages can be closed by the user (only if the user is logged in) so that they don't take up real estate. New messages are always displayed in an open state so they are seen. Anyway, something like that might be worth looking into, if such a feature is available.

They are apparently running a variant of vBullitin. Due to the fact that vBullitin is owned by the same ppl that own CF (IB), I won't be going there!
However, I will check other products for that type of functionality. At the same time, some of these sites literally employ analysts to customize these products... well... we don't.  It's me and bmwgsa who turn the screws in the back ground.I am going to redo those graphics... they were a first stab and I do need to make them smaller and sharper, but I like the look they present. The reason I am updating to these graphics? I have been getting feedback that the site looks "second rate." I know who is complaining, but those types are also the ones with the ability to help grow the site... so, graphics. Also, I don't want the site to stagnate. There are other changes coming (nothing bad, trust me!). |

Brad has an excellent idea, I just don't know if I can implement it or not... at least not without some expensive software solution... vBullitin is NOT cheap, and I really don't want to spend $$ with Internet Brands!! Seems kinda silly after how they have so ruined CF.
