Make sure you have the course down and attend the driver meeting and ask questions if unsure about anything. Then go out and do the best you can with what ya brung!

I autocrossed for the first time last year with my 93 LT1 (bone stock) and was only 1/2 second slower than the fastest C6 in my club. The C4s are very capable and a blast to run. Make sure you have good tires though...
