My buddy bought a new 07 Mustang GT. For Christmas he bought himself a cold air intake. He keeps busting my chops saying that the cold air intake gives him a "dyno guaranteed" +15 HP. I told him 5-7 HP is realistic. It's a K&N, and K&N states that if you dyno before and after and don't get +15 HP, you can get your money back.

Just interested in some opinions of the folks here.

Unless you have a friend with a dyno, you'll spend lots more than that just to find out.

Maybe K&N is counting on you not wanting to spend that $.

Well, we both discussed that. The dyno testing would be more than the cost of the intake, and then, if you sent it back, you'd lose whatever gain the intake did provide. So, it's not a real ballsy move by K&N.

Hopefully your friend is just giving you a hard time. I have that intake on my 02 GT and it did dick. I got it for next to nothing though and I just wanted it for the longevity of the filter. From my reading some guys have seen like 3rwhp and that comes from removing the stock air box silencer, not the new filter or tube. I've actually heard of losses with the shiny metal cold air kits and that's probably from heat-soak. I'm calling
