Ok I have a little bit of a problem. Ordered some intake base bolts based on a chart of sizes I found on this forum. The sockets cap is noticeably shorter. Will it be ok or time to re-order longer ones.

It's fine. Run it in with the anti seize goo and make sure you torque to spec in the correct sequence.

3/8-16 is the diameter. A marginal difference in length won't matter.

I would not use anti-sieze. It will skew the actual torque at the thread and potentially cause damage to the aluminum. For example, if you have a 30 ft-lb requirement, dry, then expect anti-seize to increase that 40% at the thread!!! That's how slippery that stuff is. Your 30 ft-lb becomes over 40 ft-lb! Not good for those soft aluminum threads.

There isn't enough stuff going on there to cause the aluminum to react to the stainless. I have never had that problem.

That is a very good point about the anti seize affecting torque readings. It does come down to manufacturer though.

A study...wish I still had the link, showed the 4 most popular manufacturers and how they affected torque readings.

If I recall, Moly made one that didn't change the torque reading at all using the 3 step process. The others all overshot the target by landslides using the 3 step method.

The one thing I will say, all hit their targets on a one step torque process, and with an intake bolt, that's all that's needed.

Not to change the topic, but can you provide a link to where you found the chart of bolt sizes? I searched but didn't see anything and that would be useful...thanks!

Check CentralCoasters sig link. I think it's there.

He was the one who compiled the list.

Yea, I wish you had that link DB. I must say, I'm very skeptical on the Moly thing.

Everybody should have the ARP book in their garage, it's free. You can get a pretty good idea of percentages from their chart dry vs oil vs ARP lube.
