I would suggest you start with the NGK TR6 gapped at .030-.035

You may need to go with a NGK racing plug in the 7 heat range but I think the TR6 will be fine.

I ran into two problems today. The ac replacement line has the wrong end on it. Monday I can take it to a shop to have it changed, so I'm not too upset. The next one is the pulley on the Procharger is 4 1/4. When I try to install the unit to the bracket two of the spacers on the bolts hit the pulley. This system was ordered for a '92, but I do not know if they were planning on a lower boost. I'll call Procharger to see what is normally ran for this set up.

My current impeller speed will be 40k at 5500rpm. If I change it to a 4" it will go to 42k.

I dropped off the line to have it changed. They are also going to keep the valve on it. The dryer does have one, but with its new location will be a pain to get to.

The call to Procharger was interesting. I found out the recommended size is a 3.6" pulley to get 8psi. When I told him the current size the response was. That will only give you 2psi, or 50hp thats a lot of money for that horsepower. I am going to start with the 3.6" since the balancer is an oversize at 7.53".

NGK TR55's will do just fine. If you need a little cooler, TR6. I'm not sure about gap because of the SC. Would the SC make a difference in gap specs?? Don't know...

I can't wait to see the car in motion! Should be a beast!!

I've heard to stay away from platinum. I was thinking the TR55's or AC set at .035 gap. The set I bought this summer were TR55GP, so I cannot use them.

The final parts were ordered today!! There will still be something. Its going smooth, the no time pressure is nice.

Yep, platinum not needed. Just buy the ~$2.00 TR55's and you can't go wrong.

I run the 55's most of the time, the 6's when I'm spraying. Some folks say that indexing does not help on a FI car, but I still believe it does. My plugs don't foul as often. I don't think it adds any noticeable performance though...

Indexing plugs is a method of preventing the piston from hitting the ground strap and closing up the gap. It is a nessecity in old 23* SBC's and 24* BBC's because of the huge dome pistons we have to run in order to get any compression.

This is one of those things REAL RACE CARS use to have to do - just to run. It was a PITA, time consuming and I really hated doing it.

It has nothing to do with FI, NA or anything else.... as long as spark jumps across the tip to the ground strap it's gonna set off the AF mixture. The position that you orient the open tip of that gap, one way or the other dosen't make any difference to the AF mixture.

Joe Sherman has tested this on his dyno to death for customers that don't know any better and it's never shown a single HP one way or the other. Non race engine builders (and a few so called) have always thought it's some kind of speed secret but the truth of the matter is much less exciting.

I am at the point of starting the car. It fired up last night, but is really rich. The gas had to be pressed a bit to get it to start and it won't idle. I haven't tried to adjust the tune yet, so this is what I will do tonight. I only had it running for a few minutes and it smoked out my garage.

Tyler, you haven't posted any pics of the engine in the car. C'mon...quit holding out on us. Show us engine porn.

That will be installed once the engine is tuned/done. Just wait for the pictures.

Wow that thing is shoe horned in. I like the ducting...how much of that is your design and how much is from the kit?

So, is it the black valve covers...replacing the brown...what I am supposed to be appreciating. If so...SUCCESS !!! I hated those brown ones. ICK.

Great work Tyler.

Thats how the kit is designed to fit. As if there weren't already enough hoses and lines for an LT1. The plate will go on once I'm done. Plus I still have to repaint it.

I adjusted the fuel levels down across the board to compensate for the injectors. After I did this it fired up without pressing on the gas and idled smooth. The tune is still a bit rich, but I didn't have to turn on the fan to air out the garage this time.

My belt did jump one groove from the charger to the harmonic balancer. I'm going to put a shim on the outer connecting bolt to angle the pulley in.

What do you estimate is left before you can test drive the car? (I wanna be along for that ride.)

I resolved the belt issue. All pullies are aligned. The idler just before the balancer has a spacer. It is not a tight fit onto the bolt. I figured it might be too loose, and angling up with pressure so I tighted it to the max. This didn't help. To compensate I decided to put an angle on the spacer. This was done with a hand file. I reinstalled it, and the belt rides perfectly in the middle.

My next issue is the tune. My program is 16 fields wide and goes from 500-8500rpm. I had installed 60lb injectors thinking I could tune them out. This wasn't the case. At 4.4 it was way too rich, and at 3.3 it was running lean and would not stay running. This does not give me any room. I have reinstalled the stock injectors, but at an idle I have them set at 10. This is still on the lean side as my AFR guage was in the upper 14's.

So what size injector do you think you will go with?
