This is a general thread to see who interested in the GGTG at the Long Beach GP. I would expect Guru's from Cali to respond but would also like to see if anyone from afar would like to come on down. Andy and I thought this would be a nice kick-off to many more GTG's in this area and also other area's, if we could get someone to step up and be a local coordinator to plan GTG's in your area. Just respond to this thread if you would like to attend.

Thanks.

For those of you who have never done the LBGP, they have a Corvette Corral.

The parking is GREAT! Some of it is common with the Porsche group, but that's fine.

Resized Image

If you check out the image above, the Corvette/Porsche parking is down in the Marina Parking area, at the bottom center of the picture. This is great parking and very close to the entrance. Unlike other tracks, everything is very close together and rather compact.

The other advantage to this parking is ease of access. You get a special parking tag, and the traffic control personnel will guide you to the special parking, far and away from the masses.

Last year, the Corvette Corral area was near turn one.

For more detail, check here:Circuit Map in PDF

For more info, www.gplb.com

Hope to see some folks there!!!! Once we get closer, we can get a head count.

The ALMS is there on Saturday only. It is also the day of the Celebrity Pro-Am race. Last year, there was a drift demo, that was really impressive. There is also qualifying and an F1 car doing laps (that is one loud bugger!).

I have a contact with the "Comitee 300" a LBGP organization that may be able to get discounted tickets at the hairpin turn and a pass to a gated party area= live band, bars, food court, dance floor, tented eating area with TV's for three days. PM me if your interested and I'll see what I can do.

I was there last year. Did not enjoy the layout of the track and accessability. Not sure if I will go back.

I might just do that. Haven't been to the LBGP since 1976 or 77. Back then it was an F1 event and the six wheel Elfs were running.

Maybe Cya there....

Absolutely, I talked to my buddy about getting the discount tickets. He's working on getting about 20 for the three days. He may be able to get single day passes too. If not come anyway and park in the Blue Lot by the hairpin on the beach. I don't get too much from the main event, they seem to wreck on the first two laps every year! I've been going since the F-1 days, I bought a poster at the first event, It's framed and In the garage. I've slept in the "Paddock" area behind one of the booths for about an hour (Siesta) if you can believe anyone sleeping with them cars racing around.

The only thing going on Sunday is Indy car and SWC.

ALMS race is Saturday. Not sure how much tickets are as I've got a hard card.

yes. it is bs.

This what happened. Just as I was getting ready to order my tix for the GPLB, I was told that I was traveling to Europe for work. However, no date was set. I get back from Sebring, and the talk is still on, but no date... kinda like wait and see. I get to 2 weeks before the race, and I can't get Corral tix nor can I get reserved seats. Crap.

I called back and simply ordered a parking pass, which is cheaper than race day parking.

So yesterday afternoon, bastet and I head down... you know something? those morons who run the GP are in need of a brain adjustment. They put the will call booth right at the main gait on E. Ocean Blvd. This means that you can't park nearby, because everything within 4 blocks west is no parking... so I would have to spend $30 to park long enough to pick up a 15.00 parking pass - which was in my name only so my wife could not get it for me.

They used to have the Will Call over at their HQ, but seemed to move it there for some stupid reason.

All in all a very disappointing afternoon.

I am going to write the CEO of the GP and share my disappointment and frustration with the situation, and volunteer my services on the planning committee.

Enough is enough.

Hey Andy. Maybe that's why the parking passes were $15.00
