What can one of these tell me that a paper clip can't?
Things like a/f ratio, injector operation, timing, while the engine is running? Just trying to decide if it's worth my while to buy one. Didn't find a whole lot with a search. |

It send commands to turn stuff on and off when you're chasing an electrical problem, read voltages at different points, etc. Things you can't do on the dash. When you're going down thru a diagnosis chart and it says to make the Tech1 do (whatever), you can't usually do this in any other way. |

LoL the old paper clip method, haven't done that in years... but it's definitely one of those good to know little tricks to pull codes on older GM's....
Basically what Bill said.. it gives you bi-directional capabilities.. Data + you can actuate things.. |
