it's interesting... people think that a Cat 1 hurricane is this walk in the park. HA! They are the ones that move slow and dump tons of rain. Same with TD and TS.

Cat 5's danger is from the storm surge.

Having made it through many named and unnamed events there is nothing better than being prepared. Cat 5 winds are an abomination. Size and speed make all the difference in the world. As witnessed with this storm it is the rain that is presenting the greatest challenge. Efforts to protect New Orleans through an improved levy system around the city left others to bear the brunt of Isaacs unrelenting downpours. A levy failure flooded an outlying parish and other areas. Coastal areas around the gulf and inland areas have ammassed huge amounts of water. A look at flood maps in your area will show areas at risk. If I'm not mistaken several members including Brian have been exposed to flooding conditions before. Certainly any weather event, fire or other catastrophe that causes damage is worthy of sympathy to the victims. Things can be replaced. Lives are precious. My main concern is saving as many lives as possible. Many were given evacuation orders and ignored the request. You truly take your life in your own hands when asked to eveacuate but choose to stand your ground. There is little to no emergency response during a hurricane. Most victims will say I never thought it was going to be this bad. My heart goes out to them. They did not ask for this. But in reality ..... None of us do.

That thing ruined my vacation.... plus I got sick... came home from Pensacola day early... Prayers for those who are misplaced, without homes and power and I feel sorry for all the animals also.
