A driver also died at Nuremburgring today.
As for casting a pall... I was at Sebring after Bob Wallack was killed. He was cycling up from his home in Lauderdale when he was hit by an old man who couldn't see. All of a mile from the track access road. The vibe was flat after that. |

It's all about race management... I was just watching... it's only 6p here now and it's time to head outside - the mid-day sun is too much here, even on a 75F day, it can get real oppressive, FAST.
I will watch later, and record the end. I usually watch the last hour or so, get the overnight updates and move on... Anyone see the Nwide race at Road America? DAMN... demo derby time. |

Nevermind.....I see the 73 car finished 4th which isn't that bad for being so far behind all race.....I don't know why they were not more competitive......

They finished 4th (20th overall) and 7th in class, which I see as an honorable result. Quite simply, they were substantially down on top speed (estimates were from 5 to 10 mph) and not above average in anything else. There was some discussion that they were not optimized for the new Michelin tire compound. I think it was a combination of things: the tires, good politicking by the other cars (especially Porsche), and effort being diverted to the C7.R. |

I don't see the tires effecting top speed, but cornering would be... |
